Hello everyone!

Hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend. We had such a nice few days back last week after your October holiday – catching up and starting work on our new IDL. We’re looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow, but before then, please see below for news and updates.

Homework: Please let us know if you need a paper copy.

Spelling: This will be live on Teams tomorrow.

Maths: This will be live on Teams tomorrow; our focus will be on concentrating knowledge of multiplication tables.

Reading: AR books can be taken home to read. We suggest reading for a minimum of 20 minutes per night.

News:

We will be taking part in Bikeability sessions over the coming weeks. Please bring your bike to school on your assigned day, and remember to check that your bike is in good working order. Tyres should be blown up and not flat, both brakes should be working, and seat and handlebars should be tight and at the correct height.

If it rains, you could bring a plastic bag to keep your seat dry. Remember your helmet.

Hello Primary 7,

It’s hard to believe that we have already reached our last week of Term 1!

Please take a moment to reflect on your hard work, determined attitude and continual display of the school values throughout your first term in Primary 7.  You should be very proud of yourselves.

Homework:

Reading: Reading books should be finished by Thursday. We will be completing an associated task in class.

Spelling: Spelling has been uploaded to teams and will be available tomorrow morning.

Maths Homework: Timetable challenge. This has been uploaded to teams.

Japan Personal Project: You should bring your project to school tomorrow and be ready to present. We will be hearing presentations each afternoon this week, so please note you could be called upon at any time to present. We can’t wait to hear and see all about your area of personal research!

News:

Parents Nights are on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. Times have been given out. Please contact the school office if you have not received your form.

October Holiday: We finish up on Friday for our October break. Pupils should return to school on Tuesday 19th October.

We are extremely proud of you all and have thoroughly enjoyed the beginning of our year together. We are already looking forward to seeing you back in Term 2 – but first, enjoy a well deserved break when we finish up on Friday.

To parents, guardians and all other adults involved in the lives of our pupils – thank you very much for your continued support, it is much appreciated.

As part of maths week this month the children will be visiting the local Co-op in Bishopton.

We are looking for 1 adult volunteer, per class, to walk with us to the Co – op and back on Friday 1st October.

The children are invited to bring no more than £1 to spend. We will have a small challenge to complete in the store.

P7C time slot – 9:45am – 10:20am.

P7CK time slot – 10:50am  – 11:40am.

If you are available to help us on that morning please pop a note in your child’s bag and we will get back to you with more details.  If we have more than 1 volunteer we will do a ballot to choose.

As the weather can sometimes be unpredictable, we suggest that you come to school with a waterproof jacket. Although the weather may be sunny in the morning, this could change by lunchtime. We suggest that you either wear a waterproof to school or have one in your bag to use, if required, for break and lunchtimes.

A reminder that it is a short week this week. School will be closed Friday 24th September and Monday 27th September.

Skill for Learning: Analysis – I can compare and contrast lifestyles in Japan with Scotland by using my own personal experience and research.

Please use the weblinks below as well as the information provided to find out as much as you can about life for children and adults in Japan. You will then use this information to compare it to your own life and that of the adults you know. You should take notes (key words and phrases) about the daily routine of Japanese children and adults. While you are researching, you should be thinking about your life and the live of your family and others that you know. Think about:

• child’s daily routine (what time do they get up? go to school? go to bed?)
• what is school life like for a Japanese child?
• what do children/adults/families do in their spare time?
• what age do children start school and move onto secondary school?
• what are men and women’s role in the family?
• how often do they spend time as a family (including their grandparents)?
• what are typical daily meals?
• What specific things do Japanese people have as part of their family?
• other things that you are interested in that could be different in Japan than in Scotland

We hope you are all having a lovely weekend. We have been very impressed these past few weeks with how hard you have been working in class and how well you have settled into Primary 7.

Here are some notes and reminders for the week ahead:

Homework:

You were issued a letter on Friday regarding homework in Primary 7.

Spelling and maths homework will be given out on Monday. This homework should be completed on teams. If you are having issues accessing Teams, please let your teacher know on Monday. If you do not have access to Teams and require a paper copy of homework, please let us know straight away.

Reading books will be issued this week. Your teacher will discuss this further with you in class tomorrow.

Gym:
