Primary 7 Outdoor Classroom Day

@playscotland #OutdoorClassroomDay @RenEdHWB

Primary 7 enjoyed taking their learning outdoors yesterday afternoon. They worked together in groups of 4 to create symmetrical flags with natural materials. They then had to identify the lines of symmetry in each flag, classifying them into categories of no lines, one line, two lines, four lines or more.

We really enjoyed ourselves, using natural resources to enhance our knowledge of mathematics and exploring why things are symmetrical.

Our brand new outdoor classroom looked fabulous in the field and we had the opportunity to explore that, too!

Check below for some fabulous photos from the day!

Primary 7 Activity Week Round Up 2022

What an incredible week Primary 7 had on their activity week last week. A week that was full of team building, resilience, but most importantly; fun and laughter.

On Monday, we spent the morning in school taking part in various activities such as: tie dye t-shirts, outdoor games and making our own lunch. We then headed to the cinema and enjoyed some popcorn and juice while we watched the new Dr. Strange movie.

Tuesday was a full day outdoors at Treezone where we went canoeing and completed the assault course up in the trees. Some of us were pushed into our stretch zone! We then finished the day at McDonalds.

Then, on Wednesday, we had another full day outdoors at Finlayston. We split up into our groups and took part in den building and outdoor activities such as: nature art, team building games, nature walk and exploring the grounds.

We had a full day at Xcite Braehead on Thursday. The children spent the morning bowling. We then had lunch and spent the rest of the afternoon playing laser tag, on the dodgems and crazy golf. We finished off the day at Frankie and Bennies.

Our final day on Friday was spent at Blair Drummond Safari Park. The bus took us through the animal viewing park and we had a few monkeys jumping on the bus and hanging from the mirrors. We enjoyed the rest of the day getting to see the animals then playing in the massive adventure park! We then returned to school and ended a fantastic week having a Dominoes pizza party!

Miss Cauley, Mrs Kelly and I would like to thank everyone involved in making the activity week so memorable for the children.

Here is a selection of photos from the week.

Primary 7 – Term 3 Round Up

Good afternoon,

We can’t quite believe term 3 is finished already. What a busy term and we couldn’t be prouder of how hard the children have worked.

You will find your child’s report in their school bag and we hope you enjoy reading about the amazing progress this session.

Primary 7 have just completed their WW2 topic. The children enjoyed learning about the history of the war and have, once again, created a fantastic display – you will see the photographs below.

Yesterday, Primary 7 met up with their buddies and went on an Easter treasure hunt around the school. There was lots of smiling and laughter. We are very impressed at what great role models the children are to the younger pupils.

Finally, we return to school on Tuesday 19th April. We hope you all have a wonderful break and thank you for the continued support.

P7: Judaism and the Holocaust

We are going to be learning about the Holocaust as part of our WWII topic and how the Jews were persecuted by the Nazis. We need to have some background information about Judaism and Jewish beliefs and values. We can then compare Jewish people’s beliefs with our own.

Each group will be given a specific area of Judaism to research. You must become an expert in this subject by using the websites on the class blog to find out as much as you can. You must be thorough because you might be the only person in your group who has researched this area of Judaism. You will share your knowledge with your home team and as a group you must create a mind map of all of your information.

  1. History: What is Judaism? Where did it originate from? What is the symbol of Judaism? Who is the founder of Judaism?
  2. Beliefs: What do Jews believe? What is kosher food? What are the important events in a Jews life?
  3. Customs: Where do Jews worship? Who leads the service? What is the Jewish holy book called? What is a menorah? What is a mezuzah? What special things do Jews wear?
  4. Festivals: What are the main Jewish festivals? What is the most important day of the week for Jews? What happens on this day?

Success Criteria

Your group must:·         produce a mind map showing all  4 areas of expertise

·         answer all of the questions above

·         work as individuals in order to succeed as a team

Primary 7 Scotland Round Up 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Good afternoon,

Throughout the month of January, P7 have been learning about all things Scottish. We would like to commend pupils for their enthusiastic participation throughout the topic – this month has been thoroughly enjoyable and the work has been of a very high standard.

One of our key focus points was Robert Burns. All pupils did a fantastic job planning for, preparing for and delivering our Burns Supper. This event was run entirely by pupils – they should be commended for their organisation skills.

As part of this topic, pupils were asked to prepare a Burns poem and were judged on their performance by other classes. A massive well done to Oscar and Aaron from P7C and P7CK respectively.

Please see below for a wonderful selection of all the work produced during this topic.
