Good afternoon everyone! Well, what a busy week that was! We had Maths Week Scotland where we learned all about maths in many of our lessons …… and not just our maths lessons!  We have also had a couple of trips out of school – I hope you enjoyed them.

Here is your homework for this week. As always, reminders are at the bottom of the post (there are quite a few this week).

Spelling: Please complete either list 22 or 33 in your spelling jotter. The task has changed slightly this week due to us having a shorter week in school. Please copy each word out twice and complete 3 sentences using spelling rule words.  As always, your sentences should be uplevelled as much as possible by using ambitious VCOP. This task should be completed and returned to school by Thursday.

Reading: Book Detectives was issued on Friday. Please click here for further details of your homework task.

Personal Reading Challenge: You now have 4 weeks left of our Personal Reading Challenge. You are aiming to read the number of books you decided on at the beginning of term. We already have someone in class who has achieved their target which is just fabulous! Once you complete a book, it should be recorded in our class reading record.

Please bring your book to school as this will allow you to read it during our ERIC sessions.

Topic:  You now have 2 weeks to work on this project. All details can be found here.  Please remember to manage your time wisely – do not leave everything until the last moment!

Maths:  As it is a short week, there will be no official maths homework. However, if you wish to complete additional practice of your tables, please use the links below. You may also access Sumdog and play the games if you have time. Additional practice is always beneficial.

H&WB: There have been a number of photographs posted on our blog over the last week. Please show them to someone at home and leave a comment on the blog. The comment can be about what they think of what we have been doing and/or what you have enjoyed. This should be completed by Thursday.

  1. Tomorrow (Monday) we will be having our first Read & Munch with Primary 1. You may, if you wish, bring some fruit or vegetables to eat while you read.
  2. P.E. will be on Tuesday this week. A few of you are still not bringing a proper change of kit. Please ensure you have shorts and a separate t-shirt to change into. Any girls wearing tights should bring socks to wear during our P.E. sessions. Also long hair should be tied back.
  3. There are still some homework jotters needing covered. Please cover these if you haven’t already done so. If you require paper, please ask.
  4. Information regarding how you may help “design our container” was issued last week. If you wish to take part in the “design our container” task please remember this should be returned to school by Wednesday 20th September.
  5. If you wish to take part in the design competition for BAE Systems, please click here for further details.
  6. Parents’ Night request forms will be issued this week. Please return them as soon as possible.
  7. It is a short week as September weekend is nearly here. School will be closed on Friday (22nd) and the following Monday (25th).

See you in the morning.

Good morning everyone! Another week in Primary 5 has flown by – does that mean we are having fun?

Due to Maths Week Scotland taking place you will only have maths homework this week (although you do have a couple of ongoing tasks which can be worked on). Please keep reading for a note of your homework and reminders for the coming week.

Personal Reading Challenge: You now have 5 weeks left of our Personal Reading Challenge. You are aiming to read the number of books you decided on at the beginning of term. Once you complete a book, it should be recorded in our class reading record.

Please bring your book to school as this will allow you to read it during our ERIC sessions.

Topic: Last week you were issued with your long term personal project. You now have 3 weeks to work on this project. All details can be found here.

I am delighted at the number of you who have already made a start on your projects. I am loving the enthusiasm!

Maths:  Please play at least 10 minutes of Sumdog each evening (Monday-Thursday). Obviously if you wish to play for longer, you may. We are aiming to achieve as many points as possible for our school. The more you play, the more points we will receive. You have the chance to answer 1000 questions each! Passwords were issued last week and we have had a practice run in class to ensure everyone was able to access their account.

Tomorrow you will be issued with your maths bingo card which should be used for homework this week. Please follow the instructions carefully. You may complete a single line or full house – the choice is yours!

If you wish to complete additional practice of your tables, please use the links below.

Good afternoon everyone! I hope you are having a great weekend so far. Homework is now well under way and the standard is certainly improving from week to week. Keep it up!  Here is your homework for the coming week. As always, our reminders are at at the bottom of the post (we have quite a few this week).

Please remember, if you are unsure of any aspect of your homework, to ask in class as soon as possible. You may also leave a comment on the blog for me. Please DO NOT leave any questions until the day your homework is due as this will be too late.

Spelling:  You should complete either list 21 or list 32 in your jotter. Please remember each word (12 in total) should be written out twice in your jotter. A further two words with the same spelling rule should be found and recorded in your jotter. Choose 5 of your spelling words and write an uplevelled sentence for each of them.

Please ensure you are including a date and title at the beginning of your work. Your title should be your list number. This task should be completed and returned to school by Friday.

Reading:  Book Detectives homework was issued on Thursday and should be completed for this Thursday (7th). Please click here for details of the task.

Personal Reading Challenge: You now have 6 weeks left of our Personal Reading Challenge. You are aiming to read the number of books you decided on at the beginning of term. Please remember you should be reading your personal reader at home, not just during ERIC time. Once you complete a book, please remember to record it in our class reading record.

Please bring your book to school as this will allow you to read it during our ERIC sessions.

Maths:  I was very impressed at how well the maths homework was completed this week. Keep an eye on our blog for some examples of very good work.

Please remember ALL workings should be shown (this will allow me to see any mistakes you may have made in your calculations) and a sentence answer should be given, eg. There are 258 boys in Bishopton Primary School. Please date your work and give it a title.

Please click the relevant group below to access your homework. This task should be completed in your maths homework jotter for Friday.
