Stirling Castle Trip P5R and P5C

Letters regarding our Stirling Castle Trip went out last week.  This trip will take place on Tuesday 24th September.  We leave at 9:00 and return to school for hometime at 3:15.  This trip is connected to our Scottish Wars of Independence Topic in class.  The cost of the trip is £2.  There is a shop at Stirling Castle, and as such the children are allowed a maximum of £5 to spend on the day.  This trip to the shop will be time permitting, and as we have a busy day we may not be able to visit.  Thank you for all of the offers for parent helpers.  It is very much appreciated.  A note will be put in the diary tomorrow for those who will be coming with us on the day.

Welcome Back!

Welcome back everyone and welcome to Primary 5!  It was lovely to catch up with the children over the last couple of days.  A homework letter will be issued towards the end of next week but I thought a few wee notes before then might be helpful.

Our PE days this year will be Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.  Please ensure children bring PE kit on all of these days and that everything is clearly labelled.  Earrings should be taken out or covered with tape which children should bring from home.  There are scissors in the class to cut the tape.  Tape should not be shared due to potential allergies.

Children can bring a bottle filled with water to drink during the day- no juice or flavoured water please as this is very sticky if spilled!

Reading books will be issued in due course. All of the children have chosen a book from the class library to read in school.

Homework diaries have been issued and I would ask that you check this daily and sign please.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.  I look forward to working with you and your children in the coming year.

P5S – Titanic Open Afternoon

We finished our week hosting our Titanic Open Afternoon for family members. I was delighted to see so many of them come and you had the opportunity to share all of your learning and knowledge from our Titanic topic.

Our activities were well received and I think the unsinkable ship task was  definitely a favourite. Our guests were becoming very competitive! Our refreshments tables were also a great success, so much so some of our 3rd class passengers were attempting to sneak into 1st class.

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us. I hope you enjoyed seeing and hearing what we have been learning about this term. Thank you also for the positive feedback received. It is greatly appreciated. We have all been working very hard on this topic.

P5S – Heartstart

This week we completed our Primary 5 Heartstart training. For this session we looked at the symptoms someone would be displaying if they were having a heart attack. I was very impressed that you were able to remember them all so well. Please tell someone at home what the symptoms are.

We also learned what to do if we ever found ourselves in a situation where someone was displaying these symptoms. Please show someone at home the position you should put the unwell person in. Can you remember what other things you should, and shouldn’t do?

Here are a few photos from our role play scenarios.
