Big Pedal 2021

Sustrans Big Pedal - Sustrans.org.ukThis year, as always, the school will be taking part in the Big Pedal, the Sustrans national competition to get everyone moving – cycling, scooting and walking.

Below you will find a video and information sheet.

This year will be a little bit different as we are asking children to bring their bike or scooter on alternate days.  Please see the timetable below for your child’s days.

Date Classes

Wed 28th April P1,P3 and P4
Thur 29th April P2,P5,P6,P7
Fri 30th April P1,P3 and P4

There are only a few simple rules –

all children must wear a helmet on a bike

bikes and scooters should be wheeled through the playground on the way in and out of school and on the ashy path.

Parents and younger siblings are welcome to join in the challenge.

Children will get the chance to cycle or scoot with their friends in the playground during the day.

We would ask that you check over bikes and scooters to make sure they are safe to use, especially if they haven’t been used for a while.

Please don’t worry if your child is unable to bring their bike or scooter on any of their days.  Walking counts too!

Big pedal parent info

We are all looking forward to the Big Pedal. It should be lots of fun.

P5C End of term

I hope you all had a great weekend.  I can’t quite believe we are at the end of term already!

Homework – reading books

Spelling

Maths

Thursday 1st April is our Spring Tea for those who have ordered it.  We also close at 2.30pm on that day.

Please keep your eye on the blog for details about the Big Pedal which starts on our return to school on Monday 19th April and runs  for 2 weeks.  The dates for p5 to bring their bikes in are Mon 19th, Wed 21st and Frid 23rd April then Tues 27th and Thursday 29th April.  All bikes or scooters should be checked at home to ensure they are in safe, working order.  Helmets should be worn.  If you have a lock for your bike you are responsible for looking after the key or knowing the combination.  Bikes should be stored at the bike rack in the upper playground.  Due to the high volume of bikes expected, please stick to our days.  We have allotted times each day to get out on the bikes or scooters.

I look forward to speaking to parents during phone calls on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Please remember to look out for an unknown number at your allotted time – it will be me!

I wish you all a very restful Easter holiday and thank you for all of your continued support during this very difficult year!

I just wanted to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you and well done to everyone for surviving 9 weeks of home learning!  The children have all been amazing, motivated and hard working.  We will be taking things slowly on our return to school next week as it will be strange adjusting back to classroom life.

A massive thank you to all parents, grandparents and other carers who have supported the children during this time – it is greatly appreciated!  I wish you all a happy, safe weekend and I will see the children next week.
