Good afternoon, I hope you are all having a relaxing holiday weekend.  This week is Maths week and we have lots of exciting activities planned for P5.

Homework

Spelling – This week our spelling sound is schwa a.  This is where an a in a word sounds like a different letter such as in private where the a may sound like an i sound.

News

Tomorrow (Tuesday 28th September) we will be visiting the Bishopton  Co-op as part of our maths week activities.  We will be leaving school at 9:30 am and will return to school at 10:20am  Please bring £1 to spend if this is possible.  We will be able to spend our £1 and will be completing a short challenge too.

Please send back in your parent appointment reply slip if possible.

Homework

Spelling – This week our spelling pattern is ves as in hooves and leaves.  Please complete the spelling tasks noted in the homework jotter.  We will take in the spelling jotters on Thursday as it is a holiday on Friday.

Maths – This week we continue our work with subtraction.  The subtraction sums can be completed on the sheet given out or copied into their maths homework jotters.

Reading – The children will be given their next reading book on Monday.  This book will be due back in on Friday 1st October. Anyone yet to return their previous reading book please do so.

News

Thank you to those who got in touch with availability to help our class on our co-op trip as part of maths week this month. We will provide further information on this in the coming days.

On Thursday the children will bring home their parent night appointment slips.

A reminder that the children are off school on Friday 24th September and Monday 27th September for the September weekend holiday.  They will return to school on Tuesday 28th September.

The homework instructions can be found inside the front cover of the homework jotters.  These jotters should be handed in on Friday.

Maths – This week we are focussing on subtraction sums.  These can be completed in the maths jotter or in the sheet that is given out.  The children should also ensure that they have completed the Sumdog diagnostic questions which the children are directed to when they log in.  The Sumdog log ins can be found in the back of the homework jotters.

Reading – The children now have an accelerated reading book which will be kept in school.  Their home reading book should be completed and handed in on Friday 17th September.

News

As part of maths week this month the children will be visiting the local Co-op in Bishopton.  We are looking for 1 adult volunteer to walk with us to the Co – op and back on Tuesday 28th September.  The children will get to spend £1 on this morning and we will have a small challenge to complete in the store. Our time slot is 09:45 until 10:20.  If you are available to help us on that morning please pop a note in your child’s jotter or bag and I will get back to you with more details.  If we have more than 1 volunteer we will do a ballot to choose.  Thank you in advance.

Homework

Spelling – This week our spelling sound is se for s as in immense and increase.  They have 8 with this sound and then 4 common words to practise. Spelling tasks are noted in the front of the spelling homework jotter.  This should be handed in on Friday of each week.

Maths

This week we would like the children to practise their addition number bonds and timestables.  They can use the Hit the Button game for this.  They should also make sure they have completed the Sumdog diagnostic questions which we set last week.  The Sumdog log in details can also be found in their homework jotter.

Reading 

The children will get their reading books out on Monday.  These books will be due back in on Friday 17th September.  It would be great if the children could read a little each night and bring this book to school each day.

News

P.E days are Wednesday and Friday.

Good evening, I hope you are all well and had a wonderful weekend.  Homework and news for this week as follows:

Homework

Spelling – This week our sound pattern is nch as in crunch and lunch.  The daily homework tasks are detailed in the front cover of the homework jotters.  These jotters are due in on Friday.

Maths – The children had their Sumdog username and password details glued into the back of their homework jotters today.  The first time the children log in they will be directed to answer some maths questions. The children should answer these questions independently for their maths homework this week.  They can then play some games if they wish for extra practise.

Reading – We are currently finishing off our running records.  Reading books will be given out on Friday of this week.  These will be due back in on Monday 6th September.

News

We have enjoyed settling in to class over the past couple of weeks.  We have started our Paths lessons and each child in the class will have their turn as pupil of the day.  The children will receive compliments from the class and it would be lovely if we could have a compliment from home too if possible. We really enjoy reading these compliments in class.

P.E is on a Wednesday and Friday.

Homework

Spelling – Spelling homework will begin this week.  Our sounds for this week are sh, ch and th.  There will be 8 words with these sounds and 4 tricky/common words.   The children have all received their homework jotter today and their homework instructions are attached to the front cover.   Spelling jotters should be handed in on Friday of each week.

Reading – This week we will continue to complete running records with the children in class.  New reading books will be given out next week.

News

A reminder that P.E for P5A will be on Wednesday and Friday.  The children can come to school in their kits as part of the relaxed school uniform.

P5A Welcome

Good afternoon,

I hope all of the primary 5 pupils had a fantastic first day. It was great meeting all of the children and for us to begin to get to know one another as we start the new term. All of the class settled so well into our new room and we are looking forward to the days ahead when we set out and agree our class charter.

You will receive a homework letter soon and this will detail all of the homework and class information. Our P.E days are Wednesday and Friday where the children can come to school in their kits as part of the relaxed school uniform.
