Good afternoon, I hope you are all having a great weekend. Homework and news as follows:
Spelling – This week our sound is the ery ending as in stationery and archery. There are no common words this week as we have completed the words for this part of the year. Over the next few week I will distribute a list of the common words we have had this year and we will highlight words that may have been tricky for revision. Please complete all of the usual tasks for our spelling sound words.
Reading – Reading due on Tuesday. This may be chapters of the novel to read. The Outsiders – chapters 3 and 4. The bridge to Terabithia – Chapters 1,2 and 3. Colour banded books due. If the children need a few more days for the longer books they can let me know on Tuesday.
Maths – This week there is a sumdog competition so the children can play Sumdog for their maths homework. They can also practise the time games and practise telling the time at home to the minute. e.g 2:16 pm.
Last Thursday group 1 in the class visited the Erskine Golf club and had a great time. Group 2 sadly did not get due to the weather but this should be rearranged at some point in the near future.
Last week was Safer Internet Week and the class had a lot of discussions talking about their online identity and how to keep themselves safe while on line.
Thursday is World Book day. As noted in the letter, children can wear their own clothes to school that day. This could be a book themed outfit, own clothes or pajamas/ onesies etc. A suggested donation of £1 was requested to help buy non fiction books for the school libraries.
Have a great week.
