P4 Home Learning – Week Beginning 27th April

Hi P4 Pupils,

We have been so impressed with your resilience and determination to complete your home learning tasks using Teams. We have experienced a few problems here and there but on the whole we are all getting there with the glitches and finding creative ways to solve our problems!

I thought it might be useful for you to see our weekly plan to give you an idea of what we are doing this week:

P4 Home Learning – Week Beginning 27th April

Thank you,

P4 – Home Learning – Monday 27th April

Good morning P4!

We seem to be having trouble uploading the assignments this morning so I have put them here. Please post your answers on the Learning Task post>

  • Charlotte’s Web (complete by Friday 1st May):
Listen to Chapters 5-7 of Charlotte’s Web. Listen very carefully, as your assignment requires you to answer comprehension questions.  Click here to see the chapter timings. Please answer these questions using evidence from the story and/or explaining your own opinion:

    1. How do you think Wilbur feels when he first realises that Charlotte is a spider?
    2. What do you think about Charlotte? Give reasons.
    3. What does Wilbur particularly admire about Charlotte?
    4. Chapter 4 is called ‘Bad News’. What was the bad news and how did it make you feel?
    5. Describe your favourite part of the story so far in 8-10 sentences. Remember to explain why it is
    your favourite part.

  • Maths Starter – Think, Notice, Wonder:
    • Look at the photograph and answer the following questions.
      • 1) What does it make you think about?
      • 2) What do you notice?
      • 3) What does it make you wonder?  You might think about the images in a mathematical way but there are no right or wrong answers.

  • Minibeasts – Draw and label insect body parts.
    • Please read the Insect Body Parts PowerPoint and then complete the task on slide 18. Choose one or more of the insects to draw and label their body parts. It is up to you how many you do, as long as one is completed.  Click on the link to view the powerpoint: Insects body parts

Bishopton Pedal 2020

Today should have been the start of the Big Pedal walking/cycling/scooting national competition that we all enjoy so much each year.

This year we’re turning it into the Bishopton Pedal.

As part of your daily exercise, we would like you to try to cycle, scoot or walk every day for the next 2 weeks.  Please make sure that bikes and scooters are safe for you to use and that you wear helmets on your bike just as you would if you were at school. If you do not have access to a safe place to cycle, scoot or walk please just carry on with all the other daily fitness ideas provided by your teachers.

Remember all your family are welcome to join in too.

Be safe and have fun.

P4 – Summariser and The 3 Sharings

Think about the last book you have read. This may have been a book at home, a class reader or an accelerated reading book.

Your task is to try and summarise the book. This means you need to tell us what the story is all about, picking out the most important parts.

Next, use the 3 Sharings to discuss the book.

  1. What did you like/dislike about it?
  2. What was tricky to understand in the book?
  3. What other books/movies does it remind you of? Does it remind you of anything in your own life?
