Outdoor Classroom Day

@playscotland #OutdoorClassroomDay @RenEd-HWB

We had great fun celebrating Outdoor Classroom Day in P3 on Thursday.  Our day started with the official opening of our beautiful new outdoor classroom. We are looking forward to using it in lots of different ways. After that we took part in a number hunt, made some picture calculations and created equations using sticks, leaves and stones. Miss Grant helped us to plant some potatoes in the field and we are looking forward to following their progress.  Finally we listened carefully to and then recreated nature’s orchestra using a range of instruments.  We thoroughly enjoyed our morning and then had a lovely visit to Our Lady of Lourdes in the afternoon.

Walk to Our Lady of Lourdes

This afternoon Primary 3 had a lovely walk along and visit to Our Lady of Lourdes.  We were warmly greeted by Father McGarry who was so welcoming.  The children enjoyed seeing inside the church and having the opportunity to ask lots of really thoughtful questions.  We were then treated to a packet of crisps  in the church grounds.  Mrs McKay and I were delighted by, and impressed with the children’s manners, super listening and enthusiasm throughout the visit.  Huge thanks to the mums who very kindly accompanied us.

Primary 3 Walk around Bishopton Thurs 19th May

Next Thursday, 19th May, we have organised to walk to Our Lady of Lourdes to learn more about the church in the community.  We will also take a walk around Bishopton and be back at school for 3pm.

Mrs McKay and I are looking for 3 helpers to accompany us.  We would meet you at the school office at 1.20pm.  If you are able to help please let your child’s class teacher know. Many thanks again for your ongoing support.  The children are enjoying exploring their local community and the opportunities to learn out with the classroom.

Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel 2022

Get set… we’re taking part in Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel 2022 (the new name for Big Pedal), the UK’s largest inter-school cycling, walking, wheeling and scooting challenge. The challenge runs from 21st March to 1st April. It’s free and we would love everyone to be involved.

What do you need to do?

Encourage your child(ren) to walk, use a wheelchair, scoot or cycle to school on as many days as possible during the event. We will also schedule some activities in the playground for each class throughout the week.

Including everyone

We want to make sure that everyone can get involved in Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel.

We know there may be things which make it more difficult for some pupils to take part than others. If you want to discuss more about your child(ren)’s specific needs, please contact Mr McAvoy and we will make sure that there is a way for your child to take part.

There are only a few simple rules –

-All children must wear a helmet on a bike.
-Bikes and scooters should be wheeled through the playground on the way in and out of school and on the ashy path.
– Each class will get a chance to walk, run, cycle and scoot with their friends in the playground throughout the week.

For more information about the event go to www.bigwalkandwheel.org.uk.
Enjoy the challenge!

World Book Day 3.03.22

This year instead of dressing up as a book character, we are basing our theme on the book – The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt.  Each class has been assigned a  colour/theme which they are asked to dress in for that day.   P3M’s colour is purple.  If you do not have anything purple, you can make a sash or hat in school on the day.

We are looking forward to a fun filled and very colourful World Book Day!
