P3C & P3W Week: 24.2.20

Hello everyone,

Homework:

  • Maths: Multiplication and Repeated Addition – Worksheet. We have been learning about different multiplication strategies such as: Arrays, Repeated Addition, Skip Counting.
  • Spelling: This week our spelling rule is al/aw/au with an /aw/ sound.
    • walking, straw, saucepan, pause, talk, yawn, seemed, next, hard, opened.
  • Reading:  Please read and discuss the book with your child.

Remember that we have a new spelling activity grid for this term. Please try to complete an activity each week. We would love to see your work if you have used scrap paper, ICT or anything else. Send it in!

P3W & P3C Week:17.2.20

Reminder:

  • PE continues to be on Thursday morning and Friday afternoon. Please ensure your child has an appropriate PE kit so they can take part.

Homework:

  • Maths: Coordinate Worksheet – We have been learning to read coordinates and label locations on a map using coordinates.
  • Spelling: Our spelling rule this week is ou/ow with an /ow/ sound.
    • bounce, howl, shower, mouth, proud, powder, along, might, close, something
  • Reading: Continue to read and discuss with your child. Ask them if they can make any connections to their book from their own experiences or other books they have read.

P3W & P3C Week: 3.2.20

Hello everyone,

Notices:

  •  Burns Assembly is this coming Thursday, feel free to wear something tartan on Thursday. Please continue to practice your poems class winners!
  •  STEM day Friday February 14th – Please bring in recycled resources for our STEM challenge.
  • Please remember that the school is closed for In-service on Friday 7th and  Wednesday 12th and there is also a school holiday on Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th. The school will reopen on Thursday 13th February.

Homework

Homework this week is due Friday 14th February.

  • Spelling: Our rule this week is oy/oi with an /oy/ sound. Here are our words.
    •  point, enjoy, choice, toilet, annoy, oyster, left, don’t, few, while
  • Reading: New books have been issued. Discuss the book with your child. Encourage them to explain what the story was about, give it a rating out of 5, and explain why they gave it that rating.
  • Maths: We are working on Money this week focusing on giving change to £1. Please play Toy Shop Money and choose Mixed Coins – Change to £1.

Notices

  • A reminder that PE has changed from Tuesday 9:00-9:45 to Thursday 9:00-9:45 until further notice. We still have our normal PE time on Friday.
  • We will hold our in class recitals for the Scots poems this week. Be prepared for Wednesday.

Homework:

  • Maths: Counting in 2’s 5’s or 10’s – Duck Shoot – Continue to develop your child’s counting skills as we begin multiplication this week.

P3C & P3W PE days

Hi,

From the 21st January, our gym slot has changed from a Tuesday morning to a Thursday morning. This is due to the gym hall being required for another class at our usual time. We will update if/when this changes back again. Sorry for any confusion!

  • We will practice our Scots poems in class on Thursday/Friday this week. Continue to practice them until we have our class competition next week.

Homework:

  • Maths: Column Addition (without bridging/regrouping)
  • Reading: Encourage your child to use the Hop, Skip, and Jump strategy. Read to the end of the sentence and then come back to the challenging word to decipher it.
  • Spelling: Our spelling rule this week is ck/k with a /k/ sound. Here are our words:

P3C & P3W – Week 13.1.20

Hello everyone,

Reminders:

Our Scottish poems were issued last week for the Burns Assembly. A reminder that if your child wishes to perform a different poem from our suggestions please let Mr Wormald or Miss Cameron know. Children are to learn a new poem from their previous years at Bishopton Primary School. We will be reciting our poems to P3C & P3W by Thursday or Friday next week. Encourage your child to work on diction and pace when learning their poems.

A reminder that we have changed the spelling homework format for this term. Please see your child’s spelling homework jotter where the activity sheet has been stapled to the last page. If you are still unsure, please do not hesitate to ask either of us.

Homework:

Maths: Reading Scales Worksheet. We have started looking at weight this term and have begun reading scales this week,

  • Challenge: Weigh objects around the house and write their weight on the back of the worksheet.
  • ICT Games: Mostly Postie

Reading:  Encourage your child to ask questions about the word they are decoding.

Spelling: Our spelling rule this week is u_e/ew/ue with a /u/ sound. Our words are:

  • useful, fuse, tissue, tune, nephew, statue, trees, never, started, city

P3C & P3W — Week: 6.1.20

Hello everyone!

Happy New Year! We hope you had an excellent holiday over the festive period.

Homework:

  • Reading: New books have been issued.
  • Maths: Sumdog
  • Spelling: Our spelling rule this week is o_e/oa/ow with the sound /o/.
    • Our words are:   froze, store, foal, soap, window, blown, last, school, father, keep

This term we are introducing a new spelling homework task.

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday tasks remain the same but on a Wednesday you may choose an activity from the spelling activity grid which is stapled inside the front cover of your homework jotter. Try to do a different one each week.

This week we will start to learn our Scottish poems for the Burns assembly.

On Tuesday you will receive a copy of 3 Scottish poems. Please choose one to learn for the end of the month.  If there is another Scottish poem you would like to learn, please just let me know.
