After our visit to Our Lady of Lourdes, we had a lovely walk in the spring sunshine to the park where we had lots of fun with our friends in P3M.
This afternoon Primary 3 had a lovely walk along and visit to Our Lady of Lourdes. We were warmly greeted by Father McGarry who was so welcoming. The children enjoyed seeing inside the church and having the opportunity to ask lots of really thoughtful questions. We were then treated to a packet of crisps in the church grounds. Mrs McKay and I were delighted by, and impressed with the children’s manners, super listening and enthusiasm throughout the visit. Huge thanks to the mums who very kindly accompanied us.
Next Thursday, 19th May, we have organised to walk to Our Lady of Lourdes to learn more about the church in the community. We will also take a walk around Bishopton and be back at school for 3pm.
Mrs McKay and I are looking for 3 helpers to accompany us. We would meet you at the school office at 1.20pm. If you are able to help please let your child’s class teacher know. Many thanks again for your ongoing support. The children are enjoying exploring their local community and the opportunities to learn out with the classroom.
We are looking for another parent helper for our walk around Bishopton on Wednesday 11th May at 1.15pm. If you are able to help out please let Mrs McLean know by dropping her a wee note or through the school office. Your ongoing support is much appreciated. Many thanks.
The weather looks mixed with showers this week, so please ensure that your child is dressed for the weather on Wednesday, with a waterproof coat in case it rains while we are out and about.
This term we are going to be learning about Life in Bishopton and how the village has changed over the years. With this in mind we are keen to take the children out to explore our local community.
Mrs McLean and I are looking for one adult helper, on Wednesday 11th May, at 1.15pm – 3.15pm, who would be willing to accompany us on a local walk.
If you are free, and would like to join us, please let either Mrs McLean or I know by dropping us a wee note via your child, or catch us at the end of the school day. Your ongoing support is very much appreciated.

Get set… we’re taking part in Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel 2022 (the new name for Big Pedal), the UK’s largest inter-school cycling, walking, wheeling and scooting challenge. The challenge runs from 21st March to 1st April. It’s free and we would love everyone to be involved.
What do you need to do?
Encourage your child(ren) to walk, use a wheelchair, scoot or cycle to school on as many days as possible during the event. We will also schedule some activities in the playground for each class throughout the week.
We want to make sure that everyone can get involved in Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel.
We know there may be things which make it more difficult for some pupils to take part than others. If you want to discuss more about your child(ren)’s specific needs, please contact Mr McAvoy and we will make sure that there is a way for your child to take part.
There are only a few simple rules –
-All children must wear a helmet on a bike.
-Bikes and scooters should be wheeled through the playground on the way in and out of school and on the ashy path.
– Each class will get a chance to walk, run, cycle and scoot with their friends in the playground throughout the week.
For more information about the event go to www.bigwalkandwheel.org.uk.
Enjoy the challenge!
Everyone in class today was working really hard on a very tricky sound of the week – silent h. Have a look at what we’ve been up to.
We had lots of discussion and fun exploring lots of different illusions. Here’s the link if you would like to have another look over the weekend.
The Illusions Index
We also enjoyed making our own optical illusions.
