I hope you all had a restful weekend. Homework is as follows:<\/p>\n

Maths<\/strong><\/p>\n

This week we are focussing on skip counting by 2s and 3s. For the homework the children have to fill in the gaps on the snake by counting in 3s. To help with this homework here is a link to a 100 square with the skip count in 3s numbers highlighted:<\/p>\n

Reading<\/strong><\/p>\n

I was really impressed by the quality of reading I heard last week and so many of P2B have progressed immensely with their reading, well done! Word walls will start being heard this week. If your child is confident with their word wall, ask them to try to spell it or use it in a sentence.<\/p>\n

Spelling<\/strong><\/p>\n

This week our sound is magic e with a_e.\u00a0 as in game, snake, cake, plate.\u00a0 The children were learning about magic e today and using the letter name a<\/strong> in these words rather than the short vowel sound ah<\/strong>.\u00a0 Here is a clip to help explain this tricky spelling rule.<\/p>\n

There will also be common words to practice.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Poetry<\/strong> \u2013\u00a0 Last week we gave out some poem options to learn.\u00a0 The children will be heard on Monday 22nd January in class reciting their choice of poem.\u00a0 They can choose a different poem if they wish as long as it is Scots.\u00a0 Here is a website to choose alternative poems if you wish.<\/p>\n

News<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last week we started our Katie Morag topic. We worked together in groups to create an AMAZING display for our topic wall (picture to be put up tomorrow!). We will continue to read Katie Morag stories and will be designing kilts this week to display.<\/p>\n

Soon, in P2B, we will begin to talk about personal targets. Your child will come home within the next coupe of weeks with a target booklet and they will show you their short term targets for Maths, Language and Health and Wellbeing.\u00a0 These will be discussed and created with your child in class.\u00a0 Feel free to add a home target in the parent\/guardian box at the bottom of the page.\u00a0 These targets will be looked at every couple of weeks to check how they are getting on.\u00a0 The target booklets will be kept in their bookbags. More info to come when the target booklets start being sent home.<\/p>\n
