Primary 2 homework w.b. 13/09/21

Good morning everyone,

We hope you all had a lovely weekend.
Please find the homework for this week below.

Spelling

In class, you will have learned the spelling rule ‘ng’.
For your spelling homework, we would like you to write the spelling rule and common words out two further times. We would also like you to create a sentence of your own. Your sentence should include at least one or more of the spelling rule words. If you would like to add more challenge, why not try to grow your words or think of other words which follow the same spelling rule. There is an example below. This should be returned by Friday for your teacher to mark.

Here is a little video to help remind you of the spelling rule this week.

Geraldine the Giraffe – ‘ng’ sound

Please copy the words into your homework jotter, two further times.

  1. long
  2. sing
  3. cling
  4. bang

Common words

  1. for
  2. on
  3. as
  4. are

Can you try to create a sentence which should include at least one spelling rule word. Here is an example.
There was a long bang.

Shoot words
sing – singing

bang – banged

Maths

The maths homework grid should be attached to your homework assignment.  remember to only complete one activity a week. The activities chosen should be different each week. This is to give the children some variety.

Reading

Your child has been issued a new book to read at home.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with your child’s teacher.

Primary 2 Homework W.B. 30/08/21

Good morning Primary 2!

We hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are ready for a fabulous new week ahead 😊

Please find our homework for this week below. A homework letter is also attached for your reference. P2 Homework Letter 21-22

Literacy:

Spelling

Our new sound is ‘ch’.

‘Ch’ words – chop, chip, chat, march

Common words – the, and, is, you

Please complete your spelling homework which you will find in your child’s homework jotter. Children should write out their spelling words 3 times using the LOOK, SAY, COVER, WRITE AND CHECK strategy. We would also like it if your child could try and think of at least 1 sentence with 1 of your spelling words in it and try to write it by themselves. We are also learning to grow our words. For example chop could be grown in to chopping. If your child can think of any ways that they can grow their spelling words, they can also write these down. I have attached an exemplar piece of homework to help with the layout.

Please return your child’s spelling homework on Friday.

Reading books – This week class teachers are continuing with assessing each child on their reading level. This week your child will be given a library book home to read with a parent/guardian whilst we continue with our assessments. If these could be returned on Thursday, we would be very grateful. If your child has finished their library book before then, they may bring it back and choose another.

Numeracy:

Maths homework grid – Our maths homework will be given as an assignment on teams. Within the assignment you will be able to access the grid. Please choose one activity per week to complete and if possible, please add your child’s maths work to their assignment.

Some housekeeping:

If you have not yet returned your child’s immunisation letter to your child’s class teacher, please do so as soon as possible.

Thank you for all of your continued support,

Primary 2 teaching team.

Home learning w.b. 01/06/20

Hello Primary 2,

We hope you all had a lovely weekend 🙂

Here are a few wee reminders to help settle your minds as we come back from the holiday.

  • Just do whatever you can. We have set some of the work we would usually be doing on those days in school but please don’t feel you need to do it all. We understand that everyone has different circumstances and daily routines. We would be happy if you checked-in with us every day.
  • We sometimes set different levels of tasks .e.g. mild, warm and hot. We always say to complete one of these, however, if you want to keep yourself busy feel free to do more than one.
  • We will continue to have Team Meetings throughout the week.  If you can join us, that would be great. These meetings give everyone a short time to share their news/feelings and hear each other’s voices. I know we really enjoy them and hope you do too.
  • Uploading work: If you are having any problems uploading any work, remember you can always email them to us. Or just let us know on Teams that you have completed the work and we trust that you have!
  • Feedback for your work: We look at your work once it has been submitted/uploaded and give you feedback. Please read the feedback to check for your strengths and next steps.
  • Technical Difficulties: Sometimes documents, powerpoints and weblinks do not work when you try them on your device. Please let us know and we will try to advise you. The sound on some links doesn’t seem to work when it opens in Internet Explorer so another web browser (Chrome) would be better.
  • Chill-Out Zone: Please remember to chat with your friends here. We are loving all of the creative and funny things you are doing in this zone. Please remember not to post personal photos or videos in this area. GIFs and emojis only.

The spelling sound this week is “ur”

Your words are

  • burn
  • hurt
  • turn
  • curl

We have now completed all the common words we need for Primary 2 and we have also revised some particularly tricky ones. Over the next few weeks we would like you to choose 4 that you find tricky and want to practise on your own.

Finally, keep trying your best and we will continue to be happy teachers.

Primary 2 teachers 🙂

P2 Spelling Words W.B. 27/04/20

Hello everyone,

We hope you all had a lovely weekend.

Like last week,  four activities will be posted on teams each day for you to complete.  Please remember that you do not have to complete these for a certain time,  just when you can.  If you are online can you please comment your child’s name on the teams chat. This allows us to take a register and keep track of who has been online.

This week our new spelling rule is ‘oy’.

Your spelling words this week are:

  • joy, annoy, destroy, loyal

For common words we have picked some th words:

  • there, their, these, those.

Your child’s teacher will post about our weekly Teams chat, scheduled for each Monday afternoon and Friday afternoon.  Please check your child’s team chat to find out their classes time.

As always, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

Have a great week!

P2 team.

P2 Homework w.b. 23/03/20

Hello everyone,

We hope you had a lovely weekend.

We know that as we move into the next couple of weeks and the new term, that things will be slightly different. However P2 teachers will endeavour to keep things as normal and consistent for the children as possible.

Glow teams reminders:

  • Please check daily for your child’s work under the ‘assignments’ tab. Not all assignments will require you to post something, but we would love some photographs or examples of work if possible.
  • You child has access to their very own ‘Class notebook’ on glow teams, which is essentially like their very own little jotter. They have been split into different subject areas (literacy, numeracy, health & wellbeing, IDL and homework)  to help them to organise their work. This is available for children to evidence what they have been doing, making etc
  • As much as we can no longer provide your child with a physical reading book at the moment, we do please ask that we continue to read with your child each day.

Primary 2 homework w.b. 13/01/20

Hello everyone, We hope you all had a restful weekend.

Please see homework and weekly notes below.

Primary 2 notes:

  • This term we have a new math homework grid. Please check inside your child’s maths homework jotter for all new activities. A reminder that only 1 activity is to be completed per week and please support or challenge your child as you see fit.
  • Scottish poems – our Scottish assembly is coming up soon and we ask that you please practise your child’s poem with them as a part of their homework. Your child will be given the opportunity to nominate themselves for a performance of the poem at assembly, but your child does not have to do this.
  • Shoe box donations – thank you so much for all of your kind donations of shoe boxes thus far. We are still requiring quite a few more per class and ask that you continue to bring these in if you can. If possible, can you please ensure that the shoe boxes you hand in have a completely removable lid. This is to allow us to secure these to the bottom of the box and allow a sturdy piece of cardboard for us to put the wheel axis through.

Primary 2 Homework Week Beg. 04.11.19

Hello everyone, Please see homework and weekly notes below.

Primary 2 notes:

  • We have had some questions regarding the Maths homework jotters this week. These are purely for those activities which you feel your child could benefit from making jottings, writing sums, adding pictures/photographs. Please do not feel that these have to be used every week, they have been provided to aid your child in their mathematical thinking. The grid has also been designed so that you are able to challenge and support your child as you feel necessary. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher.
  • Reminder of our open afternoon next week on Wednesday 13th November 2pm-3pm.
