Homework for this week

There are no new sound cards this week ,instead you could make words with the cards you have. This will let the children see that sounds go together to make words.  This can be very difficult at the beginning and it is best if you say the word and let the children repeat it eg. say  p – a – n makes pan.

Every child has a reading book for this week. Please use the questions on the card to talk about the book. The children can tell you about the characters in the book as we met them last week.

We will start read and munch on Friday. This is when children can bring a favourite book to school with a healthy snack (fruit, carrot sticks etc) and share a reading time with their classmates.

We are delighted to see how independent the children are becoming with bookbags and at lunchtime. Well done everyone. See you next week.

Pupil of the day

Today Primary 1 have started our PATHS pupil of the day.  If your child is pupil of the day they will bring home a selection of compliments their classmates/teacher have said about them.  It would be great if you could add your own 1 or 2 compliments and return this to school for your child to share with the class.

Each pupil of the day will wear a special medal that day and their name and photo will be displayed on the classroom door to celebrate their special day.

Thank you

These will include a yellow homework card which will show homework for the week and a bag of Jolly Phonic sounds to practise with your child. This week’s sounds are – s, a and t.

Please initial or sign the homework card each week. If you have any comments you can add them to the card. Please note – the homework letter will be issued on Thursday.
