Primary 1 Christmas Party

Good morning,

Next Friday morning (20th of December) is our P1 Christmas Party. Children are welcome to come dressed in their party clothes. They are welcome to wear whatever they feel most comfortable in, for example party dress or a Christmas jumper. As it is an early release, children will not need to change into their school uniform and can stay in their party clothes during the school day.

Hopefully we will have a special visitor!

Many thanks,

Primary 1 Teachers.

P1M / P1W Week Beginning 09/12

Good afternoon,

We hope you had a lovely weekend.

Rehearsals for the nativity are in full swing and a note regarding costumes will be in book bags today.  It would be appreciated if any items required from home could be brought to school by this Friday, in a bag clearly labelled with your child’s name.  Please note, we are not expecting anyone to buy anything new, so please let us know if you have any problems sourcing anything.

Homework for this week:

Sounds

New sound cards have been issued for ‘ng’ and ‘v’. Please also continue to practise all previously issued sounds.

Reading

No reading books will be issued until after the Christmas holidays.

Maths

Please complete the Christmas counting worksheet.

Notes

  • Read & munch will be on Friday of this week.  Children can bring in a book from home and healthy snack.
  • Book bags should be brought to school every day so that we can work on word walls and sounds with your child. We will keep book bags on Friday until after the Christmas break.
  • Christmas Jumper Day is on Friday of this week.  If your child wishes to take part, they may wear a Christmas jumper / top to school, otherwise school uniform should be worn as normal.  A small donation of £1.00 will be collected for the Save the Children organisation.
  • Our Christmas lunch is on Thursday this week. All children having a school dinner have ordered lunches.
  • Christmas crafts – for those who didn’t make the Christmas Fair on Saturday, you can send in £1.50 if you would like to buy your child’s craft.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to ask.

Our Festive Wonderland

On Friday we had our House Art Day. In the morning the children started making their craft for the Christmas Fayre which is being held on Saturday. Further details of this event will follow later in the week.

In our houses we each made a display for our Festive Wonderland in the Open Area ……. and it looks fabulous! The children will have the opportunity to play in it during our Free Flow sessions over the next few weeks.

Here are some photos of each of the houses with their completed displays.

P1M & P1W Week Beginning 02/12

Good afternoon,

We hope you are having a lovely weekend.

A huge thank you to everyone who handed in items to help with our role play festive wonderland – the children had a great time helping to make everything and our area looks amazing for the children to enjoy this week.

Homework for this week:

Sounds

New sound cards have been issued for ‘z’ and ‘w’. Please also continue to practise all previously issued sounds.

Jolly Phonics Z Song

Jolly Phonics W Song

Word Walls

Please work on the highlighted words in pink ONLY.  Children need to learn to read these sight words and understand the meaning by putting the word into the appropriate context in an oral sentence.   We will tick the word when your child can read the word immediately and highlight these words in green when your child shows confidence in using the words correctly in an oral sentence to show meaning. If you have any questions or problems with this, please let us know.

Reading

New reading books will be issued during the week. – please practise these with your child and encourage your child to sound out the words (if applicable) and use the picture clues to explain what is happening in the story.

Maths

Please complete the number five page only this week.

The children have been learning the months of the year  – if you would like to practice at home, here is the song we have been learning – months of the year song.

Notes

  • Read & munch will be on Friday of this week.  Children can bring in a book from home and healthy snack.
  • Book bags should be brought to school every day so that we can work on word walls, sounds and reading with your child.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to ask.

P1 Festive Wonderland

Primary 1 are looking for a variety of things to help us transform the area between our classrooms into a role play festive wonderland. If you have any of the following items lying around the house and you are happy to donate them, please send into school by Friday. Thank you!

We are looking for:

  • tinsel
  • wrapping paper
  • cotton wool
  • recycled cardboard boxes, cards, envelopes (anything that the children can use to create their own gifts and write their own letters.)
  • Battery operated Christmas lights.

Please do not go out and buy anything. We are just looking for things that you already have and are willing to donate.

Thank you for your support.
