Good morning! As you know we have our trip to Finlaystone on 7th June. Payment for this should be made via ParentPay as soon as possible. If you are having difficulty in accessing your account, please call the school office and they will be able to advise you.
Good evening! Paperwork went home today relating to our upcoming trip to Finlaystone Country Estate on Tuesday 7th June. Payment for our trip should be completed through ParentPay. If your child requires a packed lunch supplied by the school on this day, the slip for this should be completed and returned as soon as possible to allow our kitchen to order the necessary supplies. As this is a quick turnaround (and next week is a very short week for us), please also return the completed consent form as soon as possible. Parent helpers will be required on the day. Further information regarding this will be issued very soon.
On Friday we had our first visit to Bishopton Library and it was a great success. The children had the opportunity to look at lots of books before choosing one to take away and read at home. There were lots of excited faces when they realised they would be able to share their book at home with their grown-ups. I hope you enjoy reading it together. As the sun was shining when we returned to school, we popped into our outdoor classroom to have a read of our books. It was lovely to see everyone reading and discussing their book with one another.
We will be visiting the library again in a couple of weeks (date to be confirmed) to return our books and choose another one. Please keep the books safe at home until this time. Once again, thank you to our parent helpers for joining us. We hope you had fun too!
What a great day we had enjoying all things outdoors! Our very first Outdoor Classroom Day was a very busy one but we had so much fun.
We were very lucky to get the chance to use our new outdoor classroom after break where we completed some senses writing. We talked about what the different senses were and then wrote some super sentences. Next we worked on our number bond skills. In pairs we chose a number to work with and then used nature to complete the number bonds. Before heading back indoors for lunch, we were able to have a play in the maze which you all thoroughly enjoyed.
After lunch we headed up for our very first visit to Picnic Paradise with P1P. We had lots of fun cloud watching. Can you tell someone at home what you saw in the clouds? We had some wonderful suggestions. Next we had a chance to do some texture rubbings. We used the trees, the walls, the tower and even the paving stones (which seemed to work the best).
Then we went back to the field where we planted some bulbs with Elspeth who is the Community Champion from Morrisons. Our planter is being called the “Surprise Planter” because we have no idea what the bulbs were – we just need to wait and see what grows! Lots of fun was also had with the magnifier jars and our new leaf-shaped chalkboards.
Well done P1S for getting so involved in all of our tasks today. I am so glad you had fun! Here are a few photos of our day.
Good afternoon everyone! A wee reminder for those of you attending your child’s appointment in school to enter the building via the main office. All appointments will take place in your child’s classroom.
Good evening everyone! We will be visiting Bishopton Library on Friday 20th May. P1S are planning on leaving straight after break (10.50am) and will be returning around 11.25am. P1P will be leaving school at 11.15am and returning in time for lunch. On the day we will require 2 helpers per class. If you are able to help, please leave a message on this post, email us or catch us at the door on Monday morning.
On Friday we had our very own Show and Tell in class and what a great success it was! We had a wonderful selection of items being shown and you were able to tell us lots about them. It can be a little scary standing up in front of everyone however you all did so very well. You should be very proud of yourselves. Well done!
Last week we read the book “Show and Tell” in class and the children thoroughly enjoyed hearing the story and sharing their thoughts on it. A question that came from our discussions was Can we have a Show and Tell in class too? The answer to that was yes so we are having our very own Show and Tell on Friday. We are very excited!
If the children wish, they may bring something in from home to show us and then talk about. We have had the discussion that if they bring something very special to them, it is their responsibility to look after it. The children may even want to make something that they can then talk about. We have also had the discussion that, although it would be wonderful, we cannot bring in anything live. Pets and little brothers were suggested however I have had to say no to that one (as much as I would love to bring Oscar in)!
It has been very exciting in Primary 1 this week. Now that the restrictions have been lifted further, we have started our Free Flow play sessions. This means the children now have the opportunity to play between both classes and our newly kitted out Open Area. Lots of fun has been had over the last two days. It has been so lovely to see. Here are a few photos of the children I managed to catch. More photos will follow over the next few weeks.
