Happy New Year! I cannot believe we are beginning term 3 already. I hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas break. I am sure we will have lots of stories being told tomorrow. Homework and reminders for the coming week can be found below.

Sounds: Please continue to practice the sounds in the book bags. These should be looked over as often as possible at home. To challenge your child, please ask them to think of/find something that begins with or contains that specific sound.

Reading: We will be completing running records on the children this week which will allow us to issue new reading books next week. For reading homework this week, please read, and discuss, the library book chosen by your child at the end of last term. Please remember to use the Three Sharings method when discussing the story.

H&WB: This term we will be setting new targets for the children to complete. Mrs McAvoy and I will be issuing individual school targets for the children. For personal/home targets, please be discussing with your child, an area which they will be able to focus on. More information on this will be issued later this week.

  1. P.E. will be on Monday and Friday. P.E. kits were sent home at the end of last term for washing.  Please bring a fresh kit to school tomorrow (Monday) for our first session of the term.
  2. Book bags should be checked each evening for homework and any letters which may have been issued. These letters should be removed from the book bag.

As always, if you have any questions regarding homework, please do not hesitate to contact us. This can be done via the blog or your child’s book bag.

Good morning! The final week of term 2 has arrived – Primary 1 is just flying by! There will be no official homework this week however we do have a very small maths activity we would like the children to complete. Details of this, along with our reminders, can be found below.

Maths: We have been learning about the months of the year. To help with this, please can the children be aware of when their birthday is: date and month.

  1. Book bags should be checked each evening for any letters which may have been issued. These letters should be removed from the book bag.
  2. There are still a few Christmas craft reindeer decorations which have not been bought. If you still wish to buy the one made by your child, payment of £1.50 can be sent in.
  3. All costumes for our Nativity performance should now be in school ready for our dress rehearsal on Monday.
  4. Our Nativity performance is on Tuesday at 9.30am.
  5.  We will be visiting Bishopton Library on Thursday 19th December. There are still a few consent forms to be returned. This should be done as soon as possible to ensure your child is able to join us.
  6.  Our Christmas party is on Friday. All details for this can be found here.
  7. School closes for our Christmas holiday on Friday at 2.30pm.

As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. This can be done via the blog or your child’s book bag.

Christmas Jumper Day

A wee reminder that tomorrow (Friday) is Christmas Jumper Day. The children may come to school in their Christmas jumper/top. Please note this is a non-uniform event.  A donation of £1.00 is suggested. All monies raised will go to the Save the Children organisation. If the children are not taking part, they should come to school in school uniform as normal.

Primary 1 Christmas Party

Good morning,

Next Friday morning (20th of December) is our P1 Christmas Party. Children are welcome to come dressed in their party clothes. They are welcome to wear whatever they feel most comfortable in, for example party dress or a Christmas jumper. As it is an early release, children will not need to change into their school uniform and can stay in their party clothes during the school day.

Hopefully we will have a special visitor!

Many thanks,

Primary 1 Teachers.

P1P and P1S Nativity Costumes

All children will receive a note in their book bags this week confirming the clothes that we kindly ask you to provide for our Nativity performance. We have also written a generic list below for your convenience. Please note that we are not expecting anyone to buy anything new so please let us know if you have any problems sourcing anything. Most children can wear their indoor black plimsoles that are in school already unless stated. All clothes should be sent into school, in a bag labelled with your child’s name, no later than Friday 13th please. Thank you!

Mrs McAvoy and Mrs O’Neill
