What a fun day we had in P1P and P1S today. It was wonderful to see everyone’s outfits and costumes – the children were clearly very excited to see other other looking a little different than normal! We were very busy taking part in lots of activities with a Halloween twist. From Halloween themed SEAL, to watching Room on the Broom. We even managed to put a Halloween twist on our French culture lesson – Henri Matisse style pumpkins! Here are some pictures from our day.

This week in class we have been discussing “My Future Me” and  the children were sharing their thoughts on what they would like to be when they are older. We had some fabulous suggestions from the children and both Mrs McAvoy and I were very impressed at the variety. Some of the children even shared why they wanted to do this job when they are older. Please ask them to share this with you too. After our discussion the children then drew their “Future Me” in their dream job. Please have a nosey at the photographs below.

We have put a copy of the PowerPoint that we looked at in class in our Files on Teams. Please have a look at it at home. The children thoroughly enjoyed looking at it.

Good afternoon! We hope you are all having a lovely, restful weekend. We have another busy week ahead of us. Homework for the coming week will be set as assignments on Teams and will go live on Monday morning. Reminders can be found below.

Sounds: In class we have learned another 3 sounds: lb and f. These will be added to our Jolly Phonics PowerPoint on Teams for you to practice at home. We ask that you continue to practice all of the sounds as much as possible.

SIGHT WORDS: We have learned another 2 sight words (are and as) and these have been added to our flashcards folder on Teams.

READING: Wordless reading books will be issued on Tuesday. These should be read with someone at home. For further information on our wordless books, please access the information in the Files tab on Teams. Please return the books to school on Friday as this will allow us to quarantine them ready for the following week.

A wee reminder that, if you haven’t already done so, please return any reading books from last week to school as these need to be quarantined for future use.

MATHS: Our task for this week will be set as an assignment on Teams.

  1.  Details of our lunch menu can be found here. If you are having a having a school lunch, please remember to discuss the options with someone at home so you are aware of what you are having before coming to school.
  2. Our outdoor sessions will be on Tuesday-Friday (inclusive). As the weather is rather unpredictable, please ensure you have suitable outdoor clothing with you each day.
  3. A wee reminder to let us know about any wider achievements which deserve recognition at our weekly assembly. Further details can be found here.
  4. Read & Munch will be on Friday. You may bring in a book from home to read in class. Please remember any snack you bring for our Read & Munch session should be a healthy one: fruit or vegetables.

As always, any questions, just ask. Enjoy the remainder of the weekend.

P1P/P1S – Wider Achievements

Cartoon Stars N2 free image

Each week at our assembly we share and acknowledge any wider achievements the children may have attained outside of school. This may be reaching a new level at swimming, taking part in a tournament or being awarded a new badge at Rainbows or Cubs. Please be aware it does not need to be club or sports related or winning an award. You may feel your child deserves recognition for other things they are a part of outside of school. They may have raised money for a charity. Or perhaps they regularly help with family members in some way.

Due to current restrictions we may not be made aware of such achievements as the children are unable to bring any badges, medals or cups into school. Therefore, we need your help to ensure they are still receiving the congratulations they deserve. Please let us know if your child has been a part of something that deserves recognition. You may do this by emailing the information. If your child has a new badge or cup or medal to show, please also send a photograph. This could even be posted on our Teams page for everyone to see. We will then make sure the information is shared at our next assembly. We have lots of achievers in our school and this deserves to be shared and recognised.

A copy of an achievement certificate can be found in our Files tab on Teams. Please print this off, complete it on behalf of your child and present it to them at home. If you are unable to print the certificate at home, please let us know and we will organise for one to be issued.

Good afternoon! We hope you are having a wonderful October break and are looking forward to hearing all of your stories when we return to school for the start of term 2. Please remember Monday is an in-service day and school is closed. We return on Tuesday 20th.

Homework for the coming week will be set as assignments on Teams and will go live on Tuesday morning. Reminders can be found below.

Sounds: In class we have learned another 3 sounds: go and u. These will be added to our Jolly Phonics PowerPoint on Teams for you to practice at home. We ask that you continue to practice all of the sounds as much as possible.

SIGHT WORDS: We have learned another 2 sight words (for and on) and these have been added to our flashcards folder on Teams.

READING: Wordless reading books will be issued on Tuesday. The children should look at the pictures carefully and retell the story through what they see. Being able to use picture cues in this way is a very good reading skill for them to learn. This will also allow them to build on their comprehension skills. Please return the books to school on Friday as this will allow us to quarantine them ready for the following week.

A wee reminder that, if you haven’t already done so, please return any overdue Reading for Enjoyment books to school.

MATHS: Our task for this week will be set as an assignment on Teams.

  1.  Details of our lunch menu can be found here. If you are having a having a school lunch, please remember to discuss the options with someone at home so you are aware of what you are having before coming to school.

P1P/P1S – Today We Were ……….

Group of Workers with Different Jobs clipart. Free download transparent .PNG | Creazilla

This afternoon we continued celebrating all things maths by focusing on this year’s theme: Maths at Work. We looked at how different maths skills were used in a variety of jobs. Please discuss this with your child and, if possible, chat to them about the different ways in which you may use maths at work.

So much fun was had when we became chefs, bakers, builders, engineers, scientists and shopkeepers. Some of us may have got a little messy!
