P1M/W: Week Beginning 1/3/21

Good afternoon,

We hope you have had a fantastic weekend, after a busy first week back. We will not be issuing any homework this week as we know families will need some time to adjust to school learning once again. Homework will be issued next week.

We have a busy week ahead with lots of fantastic learning opportunities. There are no new sounds this week however, it would be great if pupils could revise the previously taught sounds/sight words at home. Our focus this week will be on time. We will be learning to identify o’clock times on both analogue and digital clocks. Children will look to share this knowledge at home and it can be helpful to ask children to look at the clock at key points in the routine at home. E.g it’s dinner time – what time is it? it’s 5 o’clock.

Reminders for this week:

  • Please ensure that your child has a bottle of water to keep in class throughout the day. We kindly ask that it is only water and not juice.
  • We have been enjoying lots of time outside this term. Waterproofs should be kept in your child’s school bag. It might be a good idea to keep an extra pair of socks in case of any wet weather.
  • Pupils should continue to practise zipping their coat and getting ready independently. As discussed at the beginning of the term, it can be helpful if pupils wear shoes that they can get on and off. Laces can make it difficult for pupils to change independently.
  • Read and Munch is on Thursday this week. Children can bring a book and a healthy snack to enjoy with their friends.
  • Please ensure that your child does not bring any toys to school. This allows us to comply with COVID-19 mitigations.
  • On Friday we are planning to do some planting. Each child needs 1 yoghurt pot. If possible, could you send a yoghurt pot labelled with your child’s name by Friday 5th March.
  • If you wish your child to wear a paint apron, please provide them with an old shirt or apron to keep in their bag.

Have a fantastic week and as always, if you have any questions or concerns please get in touch.

Miss Wilson & Miss Murray.

P1M & P1W Reminders

Good afternoon,

It is so lovely to have all the boys and girls back in school. We have had such a busy week already and have an exciting term ahead.

Just a  quick reminder that read & munch is tomorrow & children can bring in a book from home and a healthy snack to enjoy, if they wish.

Also, we are continuing to learn outdoors Mon, Wed, Thurs & Fri each week – please ensure children have suitable warm and waterproof clothing and footwear on these days.

Homework will not be issued this week or next week to allow children a chance to settle back into school. We will continue to update you weekly with sounds, sight words and maths topics covered in class each week.

As always, please get in touch if you have any questions.

Miss Murray & Miss Wilson

P1 Home Learning

We hope you are all keeping well and have had a lovely Christmas holiday at home. As we move to virtual teaching for a while, we just wanted to give you a little heads up of what to expect over the coming weeks.

Weekly Timetable

We plan to try and keep our days as close to a regular school day as possible; however, we are aware that every family’s circumstances will be different, so please don’t worry about completing all activities within a given day at a specific time. All we ask is that you try your best and we will be here to support you, and your grown-ups, as and when needed throughout the school day. 😊

We will upload a weekly overview every Sunday on Teams and the blog. This will let you see what learning is planned for the week ahead and will hopefully help you plan your days to suit your needs.

Daily Assignments, Teaching and Tasks

Your individual assignments for that day will be posted at 8.30 am. These assignments will have a closing date set for one month, so you can hand in assignments late up until this date.

We will be delivering learning in a variety of different ways. These include recorded PowerPoints, videos, links to enhance lessons and so on. Please attach your work, as and when appropriate, to each individual assignment, to allow us to give you feedback directly. If you are having any problems with this, please email and let us know.

We will post any other suggested tasks, which are linked and relevant to our weekly planner, directly onto our Teams page.

Play

A huge part of our day in Primary 1 is learning through play. Please remember to schedule lots of time to do this whether that be playing with your toys, creating games, using ICT. . . it’s all relevant! Keep an eye on the File called ‘Ideas To Keep Busy At Home’ which we will update with documents and websites to give you suggestions of things to do indoors.

Morning Fitness and Daily Registration Posts

We plan to start each morning with a suggested fitness post. These links will be posted before 9am to allow you to engage with the live Joe Wick’s lessons at 9 am on certain days if you wish.

We will then post our registration post at 9.30 am each day where we ask you to say hi to us to check in and allow us to complete our required register for that day. Please note that you may reply to this post at any point throughout the day.

Live Daily Check-In

During the first lockdown in March, we enjoyed our successful live check-ins with our class. We, therefore, plan to do this again and we hope to bring everyone (who is available) together online at some point each day. More information about these will be provided on your Team page on Monday.

We hope that this information has been useful. Please remember to not worry or stress about anything. We are all in this together and we welcome feedback to help make this process as smooth and as easy as possible.

We look forward to speaking with you on Monday.

Stay Safe!

Primary 1 Teachers.

P1M / P1W Reminders – Fri 18th Dec

P1M & P1W, just to remind you all tomorrow, we will be having our Christmas party (and a very special visitor may just join us at some point) so you may wear your party clothes to school, if you wish. Also, please remind whoever is collecting you from school that we close early tomorrow at 2.30pm. To avoid congestion in the playground and the surrounding paths, you may be collected from 2.15pm.

Thanks,

Miss Murray & Miss Wilson
