P1M / W Week Beginning 27/01

Good morning,

We hope you’ve all had a good weekend.

Homework for this week:

Reading – your child has been issued with a new reading book. Please practice this with your child and encourage them to sound out words (if applicable) and use the picture clues to help explain what is happening in the story.

Sounds – new sound cards have been added for ‘y’ and ‘x’. Please continue to practice previously issued sounds.

Word walls – word walls have been checked and put back into book bags. Please focus on trying to read the highlighted words in pink only. Children need to learn to read these words by sight (rather than sounding out) and understand the meaning by putting into an appropriate context in an oral sentence. We will tick the word when your child can read the word immediately and highlight these words in green when your child shows confidence in using the words correctly in an oral sentence to show meaning.

Maths – children have been issued with a blank calendar – they should work with an adult at home to circle family birthdays or important dates. Here is the Days of the Week song and the Months of the Year song to go along with this task.

Listening & Talking – children will be performing their Scottish Poems to the class this week and we are looking forward to hearing these. Further details of this task can be found here.

Health & Wellbeing – Please continue to work on January’s personal target at home. More information on this task can be found here.

Reminders:

  • P.E. will be on Monday & Tuesday of this week. Earrings must be taped and long hair tied back.
  • Please ensure children bring a water bottle to school every day.
  • Read & munch will be on Friday of this week – children can bring in a healthy snack, such as fruit or veg, and a book from home if they wish.
  • Active Schools clubs start up again this week – children can bring in a packed lunch or order a school dinner to eat after they have finished at their club.
  • Please let us know in advance if there are any changes to out of school care / pick up arrangements for your child at the end of the day.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions.

P1M / P1W – Thank You & Merry Christmas!

Good afternoon,

What a busy week we have had – the children should all be very proud of themselves for putting on such a fantastic nativity performance, we hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did.  Everyone had a great time at the Christmas party today and Santa even managed to drop by for a chat with all the children, who have worked so hard this term.

We can’t believe we have reached the holidays and we would both just like to thank everyone for the lovely cards, gifts and well wishes. We really appreciate it.

We hope that everyone has a relaxing and fun filled festive period. We look forward to seeing you in the New Year.

Enjoy!

Primary 1 Christmas Party

Good morning,

Next Friday morning (20th of December) is our P1 Christmas Party. Children are welcome to come dressed in their party clothes. They are welcome to wear whatever they feel most comfortable in, for example party dress or a Christmas jumper. As it is an early release, children will not need to change into their school uniform and can stay in their party clothes during the school day.

Hopefully we will have a special visitor!

Many thanks,

Primary 1 Teachers.
