P1M & P1W: Week Beginning 21/6/21

Good afternoon,

I hope you’ve all been having a lovely weekend. I can’t believe we are at the last week of the year. It’s been a fantastic year and we are so proud of all of the progress you have made.

As it is our last week of the year, there will be no homework this week.

Reminders:

  • Please have a good check at home for any books you have not returned and return these as soon as possible. This helps us to make sure they are all ready for next session.
  • We will be sending home some jotters this week. These do not need to be returned.
  • On Friday, we finish at 1pm. Due to the early finish, the only lunch option will be sandwiches (pre-ordered).
  • Read and Munch will be on Thursday this week. Please bring a book and a healthy snack to enjoy in class.

As always, if you have any questions please get in touch.

P1M/W: Week Beginning 1st of June

Good afternoon,

We hope you have had a lovely holiday weekend. On Tuesday Mrs Hughes and Mrs Kane will be in the class.  As this is a short week, we will only have a small homework task. For this week, we would ask that you take time to focus on practising our ‘On My Way’ song. We are hoping that we will be able to issue t-shirts at the beginning of the week to allow you to record your video. Please see the class Teams post for more information.

As always, if you have any questions please get in touch.

P1M & W: Wet Weather Clothing

Good afternoon,

As the weather has been particularly changeable this week, could you please ensure that your child has full waterproofs (wellies – kept in class, waterproof trousers and jacket or puddle suit – kept in your child’s bag) every day. This helps with our outdoor learning & keeps them dry during playtime/lunchtime.

Thanks,

Miss Wilson & Miss Murray

Remember to practice saying each word in a sentence. It’s a good idea to go back over the words you have already learned.

P1M & P1W – Week Beginning 15.3.21

Good afternoon & Happy Mother’s Day!

We hope you are having a lovely weekend at home. Homework for this week is listed below.

SOUNDS          The 10 Best Ways to Help Kids Learn Phonics (Activities to Help Your Child Learn to Read!) | How to Learn

We learned the sounds ‘oi’ and ‘ue’ this week – we have added these to the sounds folder within your class Teams page. Please complete the ‘oi’ and ‘ue’ missions that have been assigned to you on Literacy’ Planet – click here. You will need the log in details emailed to your Glow email address. If you would like added challenge, please draw a picture of a word that contains our 2 new sounds, and try to write the word below.

SIGHT WORDS

Word Walls will be issued this week. These will be sent home on a Monday and must be returned to school on a Friday. This will allow us to check each child’s progress. We will highlight each weeks focus in yellow. Completed words will be highlighted green. Remember to practise saying each word in a sentence. It’s a good idea to go back over the words you have already learned.

READING    Two children reading books in school - Download Free Vectors, Clipart Graphics & Vector Art

A new reading book will be issued on Monday – please read this with someone at home. Please return books to school this Friday 19th March to allow us to quarantine these ready for the following week. We have a number of books outstanding from last week – it is absolutely essential that these are returned as we will not be able to issue your child with any other books until their previous book is returned.

NUMERACY & MATHS   Maths Clipart Images Clipart Kids Math Clip Art Kids - Math Kids Clipart, HD Png Download , Transparent Png Image - PNGitem

For homework this week we are having a numeracy focus. Please practise counting forwards and backwards within the appropriate number range with your child. For some this may be 0-20, 0-30 or 0-50. You may wish to spend some time playing numeracy games on SumDog. Login details have been emailed to your child’s glow account.

REMINDERS

  • Over the last few weeks we have had lots of wet weather. For outdoor learning, it is helpful if every child has full waterproofs (jacket and trousers or a puddle suit) and welly boots (these can be kept in class). It is also helpful if your child has a change of clothes in their bag (including socks).
  • We have had a lot of lost property this week. As the year has gone on many labels have fallen off or washed off. All items of clothing/shoes must be fully labelled. This really helps to cut down time and encourages children to be responsible for their belongings.
  • We encourage children to be as independent as possible in class – please keep practising zipping up jackets and putting on hats, scarves, gloves, shoes, etc. Your help with this is much appreciated.
  • Read & Munch will be on Thursday. Your child may bring in a favourite book from home to read in class and a healthy snack.
  • School lunches and menu information can be found here.
  • Parents’ evening calls will take place on Tuesday 30th March and Wednesday 31st March. We will follow a very similar timetable for scheduling calls. Please let us know if the same appointment slot no longer suits as soon as possible. We are really looking forward to chatting about the learning and progress in P1. Letters confirming times will be sent out this week.

As always, if you have any questions please get in touch.

Miss Wilson & Miss Murray.

P1M/W: Week Beginning 1/3/21

Good afternoon,

We hope you have had a fantastic weekend, after a busy first week back. We will not be issuing any homework this week as we know families will need some time to adjust to school learning once again. Homework will be issued next week.

We have a busy week ahead with lots of fantastic learning opportunities. There are no new sounds this week however, it would be great if pupils could revise the previously taught sounds/sight words at home. Our focus this week will be on time. We will be learning to identify o’clock times on both analogue and digital clocks. Children will look to share this knowledge at home and it can be helpful to ask children to look at the clock at key points in the routine at home. E.g it’s dinner time – what time is it? it’s 5 o’clock.

Reminders for this week:

  • Please ensure that your child has a bottle of water to keep in class throughout the day. We kindly ask that it is only water and not juice.
  • We have been enjoying lots of time outside this term. Waterproofs should be kept in your child’s school bag. It might be a good idea to keep an extra pair of socks in case of any wet weather.
  • Pupils should continue to practise zipping their coat and getting ready independently. As discussed at the beginning of the term, it can be helpful if pupils wear shoes that they can get on and off. Laces can make it difficult for pupils to change independently.
  • Read and Munch is on Thursday this week. Children can bring a book and a healthy snack to enjoy with their friends.
  • Please ensure that your child does not bring any toys to school. This allows us to comply with COVID-19 mitigations.
  • On Friday we are planning to do some planting. Each child needs 1 yoghurt pot. If possible, could you send a yoghurt pot labelled with your child’s name by Friday 5th March.
  • If you wish your child to wear a paint apron, please provide them with an old shirt or apron to keep in their bag.

Have a fantastic week and as always, if you have any questions or concerns please get in touch.

Miss Wilson & Miss Murray.

Firstly, in December, homework will be reduced slightly. This is to allow more time to practise nativity parts and to enjoy Christmassy things at home.
