P1M & P1W Week Beginning 24/05

Good morning,

We hope you are having a lovely weekend. Homework for this week and reminders are below:

SOUNDS          The 10 Best Ways to Help Kids Learn Phonics (Activities to Help Your Child Learn to Read!) | How to Learn

We learned consonant blends ‘fr’ and ‘fl‘ last week – these have been added to our flashcards within the Teams phonics folder. Please continue to practice all sounds at home as much as possible.

We learned two new sight words – ‘would’ and ‘make’.  Word Walls have been checked and focus words highlighted – these will be sent home on Monday, to be retuned to school on Friday.  Please return your word wall to school tomorrow if you didn’t manage to hand it in last week. Remember to practice saying each word in a sentence. It’s a good idea to go back over the words you have already learned.

A new reading book will be issued on Monday – please read this with someone at home. Please return books to school on Friday 28th May to allow us to quarantine these ready for the following week.

In maths, we have been learning to identify all coins to £2. We are also focusing on using addition skills, using 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p coins, to pay the exact value for items up to 10p. Click here to access a game which will help with coin recognition and counting.

END OF TERM SONG   Choir Clip Art Choir Clip Art Free Download Clipart - Children Singing, Cliparts & Cartoons - Jing.fm
It would be great if you could continue to practice our song – we are delighted with how well everyone is learning the words. We will continue to let you hear the song in class but as restrictions stop us from singing in class, it would be super if you could practice singing the words as much as possible from home. The backing track and words for the song can be found within files on your Teams page named ‘P1 Virtual Concert Song’.

  • Read & Munch will be on Thursday. You may bring in a favourite book from home to read in class and a healthy snack – please remember your snack should be a healthy one, such as, fruit or vegetables.
  • School lunches and menu information can be found here.
  • Please bring  waterproofs and wellies  daily for outdoor learning. It might be helpful to keep a spare pair of socks in school bags, to help with wet feet on rainy days.
  • We are covering the Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood Education Programme (RSHPE) in class. Please click here to read the letter giving more information on the themes covered.
  • We are excited about taking part in sport day this week – please click here for further details.

As always, if you have any questions please get in touch.
