P1M & P1W – Week Beginning 26.04

Good afternoon,

We hope you are having a lovely weekend and enjoying the glorious weather. Homework for this week and reminders are below:

SOUNDS          The 10 Best Ways to Help Kids Learn Phonics (Activities to Help Your Child Learn to Read!) | How to Learn

We learned consonant blends ‘bl’ and ‘br‘ last week – these have been added to our flashcards within the Teams phonics folder. Please continue to practice all sounds at home as much as possible.

SIGHT WORDS

We learned two new sight words – ‘out’ and ‘many’.  Word Walls have been checked and focus words highlighted – these will be sent home on Monday or Tuesday, to be retuned to school on Friday.  Please return your word wall to school tomorrow if you didn’t manage to hand it in last week. Remember to practice saying each word in a sentence. It’s a good idea to go back over the words you have already learned.

A new reading book will be issued on Monday – please read this with someone at home. Please return books to school on Friday 30th April to allow us to quarantine these ready for the following week.

We have been focusing on ‘adding one more’ this week. Get a grown up to say a number between 0 and 20, then you add on one more to the number and say it out loud as fast as you can. If this is too easy extend the number range.

REMINDERS

  • Read & Munch will be on Thursday. You may bring in a favourite book from home to read in class and a healthy snack.
  • School lunches and menu information can be found here.
  • Big Pedal will take place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of this week. Please feel free to bring your bikes or scooters to school on these days. Helmets must be worn if you are bringing a bike. We would encourage you to wear a helmet if you are bringing a scooter.  Please remember, you should not ride your bikes and scooters  in the playground at the start and end of the school day. Please click here for more information.
  • Please remember to let us know in advance of any changes to pick up arrangements at the end of the day.

As always, if you have any questions please get in touch.
