Online learning challenged us to question what works and what does not. Our pupils told\u202fus that too much digital provision in education, particularly for exam year groups, can be either inspiring but\u202fpoorly-focused\u202fon what they need, or else useful but dull. We decided to create something different: a platform that is enjoyable to visit, but also useful to use for young people studying for national qualifications.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What is thinkfour<\/em><\/strong><\/a>?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The platform is a result of extensive research, collaboration with\u202feducation\u202fexperts from academia and with working groups of pupils and\u202fteaching\u202fcolleagues. Everything we have produced has been built on the science of learning \u2013 maximizing impact and value for young people.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It is an entirely free, open access digital platform to support pupils studying SQA Highers which features production-quality, short-format video tutorials that explain some of the most challenging material across 13 different subjects including; English, Maths, Chemistry, Art and PE.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

thinkfour <\/em>is not just for pupils; we have\u202frecognised\u202fthe power of the online format to take learning into homes, into conversation between children and their families, and into the lives of young people in a way that suits them. This is a change that can strengthen education and enhance how we support learning at school and at home.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

thinkfour<\/em> is also for teachers. We have found a large number of colleagues from across the sector using the platform as an additional teaching resource and adding significant value to lessons and planning.<\/p>\n

Analysis of impact<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the time of writing,\u202fthinkfour\u202f<\/em>attracts thousands of return users to the site from across all authorities across Scotland.\u202fUser\u202ffeedback\u202fhas\u202fgenerated a very high approval\u202frating\u202fof the media content, with the\u202fquality and short\u202fformat\u202fof the video tutorials\u202fserving to distinguish it from other learning sites. thinkfour<\/em> has now been invited to contribute to the National e-Learning offer and become a provider on GLOW.\u00a0 To find out more, please contact me at s.dignall@tga.org.uk<\/a>.<\/p>\n
