Our Numeracy and Mathematics Programme ensures an appropriate balance between the core skills of basic number work, including money and measure, and other concepts such as shape and space, handling data and problem solving.
In addition to teaching mathematics we plan to ensure that children develop their numeracy skills across the curriculum.
Numeracy is a vital skill that is important in everyday life. It is about being confident when solving problems, making decisions and analysing situations that involve numbers.
In numeracy children will learn through active learning and purposeful play. They will develop problem solving capabilities through:
- Calculating mentally
- Explaining their thinking
- Using relevant contexts and experiences
- Using technology
- Collaborating and learning independently
Our main resource is Active Heinemann Mathematics. Teachers use ICT software and interactive activities to extend and support learning.
