The council supports an agreed dress code because of the benefits it brings, including improvements in safety, security, discipline, ethos and community spirit, and a decrease in bullying and expense for parents.<\/p>\n<p>Some types of clothing will not be allowed in school for reasons of safety, decency or indiscipline. Types of clothing which will not be allowed include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>clothes which are a health or safety risk;<\/li>\n<li>clothes which may damage the school building;<\/li>\n<li>clothes which may provoke other pupils;<\/li>\n<li>clothes which are offensive or indecent; and<\/li>\n<li>clothes which encourage the use of alcohol or tobacco, or other inappropriate substances.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Although Mossvale Primary encourages all\u00a0pupils to wear school uniform, no pupil\u00a0would be deprived of any educational benefit as a result of not wearing uniform.<\/p>\n<p>We ask that you help the\u00a0school by ensuring that valuable items and unnecessarily expensive items of clothing are not brought to school. Parents should note that the authority does not carry insurance to cover the loss of such items and any claims submitted are likely to be met only where the authority can be shown to have been negligent.<\/p>\n<p>In the interests of health and safety, of both individual and others present, all jewellery, including body jewellery, must be removed before taking part in physical education lessons or physical activities.<\/p>\n<p>Grants for footwear and clothing for children are available to parents receiving:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>income support;<\/li>\n<li>income based job seeker\u2019s allowance;<\/li>\n<li>pension credit;<\/li>\n<li>housing benefit;<\/li>\n<li>council tax benefit; or<\/li>\n<li>depending on annual income, child tax credit or working tax credit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Information and Grant application forms are available from schools, registration offices and customer service centres. A form can be downloaded from the council\u2019s website: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.renfrewshire.gov.uk\/webcontent\/home\/services\/education+and+learning\/information+for+parents\/els-ab-freeschoolmeals\"><span style=\"color: #007cb1\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">www.renfrewshire.gov.uk<\/span><\/span><\/a>.School Uniform<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Mossvale Primary Uniform<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Most parents of pupils in Mossvale Primary School wish children to wear school uniform. Uniform makes all pupils look and feel equal and encourages a sense of belonging, which is important to your children.\u00a0\u00a0 Pupils are encouraged to wear the following:-<\/p>\n<p><strong>Girls\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Navy or Grey skirt,\u00a0Navy or Grey\u00a0sweater,\u00a0white blouse and school tie, with school shoes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Boys\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Navy or\u00a0Grey\u00a0trousers, Navy or Grey sweater, White shirt and school tie, with school shoes.<\/p>\n<p>For PE it is advised that training shoes, a pair of shorts and a t-shirt, or similar top be worn. We strongly discourage the wearing of football tops at all times. School polo shirts are ideal for PE.<\/p>\n<p>In the interest of safety, no jewellery should be worn at PE.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Indoor Footwear<\/strong> is required in classrooms for all pupils.<\/p>\n<p>Items of clothing should have the name of the pupil written on the labels for ease of identification.
