Parents are encouraged to be:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li>involved with their child\u2019s education and learning;<\/li>\n<li>welcomed as active participants in the life of the school; and<\/li>\n<li>encouraged to express their views on school education generally and work in partnership with their children&#8217;s schools<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Every parent who has a child at our school is a member of the Parent Forum. The parent council is a group of those parents chosen to represent the parent forum. As a member of the Parent Forum, each parent can expect to:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li>receive information about the school and its activities;<\/li>\n<li>hear about what partnership with parents means in our school;<\/li>\n<li>be invited to be involved in ways and times that suit you;<\/li>\n<li>identify issues you want the parent council to work on with the school<\/li>\n<li>be asked your opinion by the parent council on issues relating to the school and the education it provides;<\/li>\n<li>work in partnership with staff; and<\/li>\n<li>enjoy taking part in the life of the school in whatever way you can.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The type of things the parent council may get involved in include:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li>supporting the work of the school;<\/li>\n<li>gathering and representing parents\u2019 views to the head teacher, education authority and Education Scotland;<\/li>\n<li>promoting contact between the school, parents, pupils, and the local community;<\/li>\n<li>fundraising;<\/li>\n<li>organising events ;<\/li>\n<li>reporting to the parent forum; and<\/li>\n<li>being involved in the appointment of senior promoted staff.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">For more information on parental involvement or to find out about parents as partners in their children\u2019s learning, please contact the school or visit the Parentzone website at <a href=\"https:\/\/education.gov.scot\/parentzone\/\">https:\/\/education.gov.scot\/parentzone\/<\/a><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Home school community links Parent Council By law schools have a duty to promote parents\u2019 involvement in children\u2019s education.
