Emotion Works

Emotion Works encourages children’s emotional literacy and builds upon this year on year. The teacher can introduce the lessons or engage the class in discussions around feelings and emotions in any way they wish. Stories are regularly used, disassociating the feelings from personal experiences can make it a bit easier for some children to open up and start to discuss emotions. Many resources and examples of good practice are available on the Emotionworks website in the members are. Please see DHT for login details.

Children are introduced to different coloured ‘Cogs’ at different stages which can help them to recognise emotions, triggers and strategies they could use to help them regulate their emotions.

Last year we started to use and deliver the new RSHPE resource with all classes. This is an area which was difficult to deliver whilst children were learning from home, and therefore will be focused on more this year with all classes.
