{"id":12374,"date":"2022-03-16T12:48:57","date_gmt":"2022-03-16T12:48:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/re\/langbankprimary\/?page_id=12374"},"modified":"2022-03-16T12:48:57","modified_gmt":"2022-03-16T12:48:57","slug":"pupil-council","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/re\/langbankprimary\/pupil-council\/","title":{"rendered":"What is a Pupil Council?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>What is a Pupil Council?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>A pupil council:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>gives our children the chance to tell teachers, staff parents and other children their ideas and views<\/li>\n<li>represents each class in the school<\/li>\n<li>meets regularly to talk about important school issues and projects<\/li>\n<li>puts forward the class views at council meetings<\/li>\n<li>take forward the views of the very young classes, who may find it difficult to put forward other\u2019s opinions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>The pupil council must have:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a constitution, which is a list of rules clearly setting out roles and responsibilities<\/li>\n<li>a chairperson, who leads the meetings by following the agenda, which is a list of items to be discussed \u2013\u00a0<strong>we all take turns of this role<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>a secretary, who takes notes of what is said at the meeting \u2013 these notes are called the minutes of the meeting \u2013\u00a0<strong>we allow pupils to volunteer for this role at the meetings<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>a link teacher, to give guidance and support \u2013 our link teacher is Mrs Davis \u2013 Principal Teacher<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>a representative, who takes the key messages from each meeting back to the whole class to keep them involved.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Langbank\u2019s Pupil Council\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Action Plan\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Represent the voice of pupils in Langbank<\/li>\n<li>Continue charity fundraising<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to making our school a safe and happy place for all!<\/li>\n<li>Act as role models for others by demonstrating the school values.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Langbank\u2019s Pupil Council\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Roles and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Elected to represent their class.<\/li>\n<li>Respect others and their ideas.<\/li>\n<li>Responsible for improving our school.<\/li>\n<li>Our Pupil Council organise activities for all children to be involved.<\/li>\n<li>Our Pupil Council meet regularly with the Principal Teacher.<\/li>\n<li>Our Pupil Council communicate their achievements to the whole school community<\/li>\n<li>Our Pupil Council make a difference to our school!!!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is a Pupil Council?
