Wednesday 25th March (Lesson 3 – Personal Research / Pupil Choice)

This afternoon you should be working on your ‘Life Below Water’ research project. Remember this is due on Friday. Here is the original lesson from Monday. Remember to cover as many of the bullet points as possible in your presentation.

Monday 23rd March (Global Goals Topic)

In order to break up your afternoon I want you to do 1 or 2 of the following tasks:

  • Leave nice note somewhere for someone else to find it
  • FaceTime a relative or someone you miss. Tell them everything you miss about them

  • Do something helpful for someone in your household

  • Hide sweets around the house and start a treasure hunt with your family

  • Have a go at some of our Lego Challenges

Monday 23rd March (Global Goals Topic)

For the next part of our topic, you are being asked to carry out a research project on “LIFE BELOW WATER”. Your research can be presented as:

  • a report
  • a video
  • a powerpoint
  • sway presentation.

In your report I am looking for you to include the following:

  • locate the major oceans on a map and take account of where they are in relation to countries and places of interest
  • research key facts about the main oceans of the world
  • explore the effects of climate change on the world’s oceans
  • research the ‘bleaching’ of the Great Barrier Reef and how climate change is contributing to this
  • suggest ways humans could slow down the process of climate change
  • investigate which oceans have particular problems with pollution
  • suggest ways the governments of countries around polluted oceans can work to improve them
  • investigate some of the marine life which are threatened by human intervention.

SEE USEFUL WEBSITES

EXTENSION – To up-level your project you could add some of the following:

  • research to find out about organisations who work to protect oceans
  • choose and research something which lives under the water
  • research the Great Barrier Reef and how organisations work to protect it
  • how sound vibrations travels through waves and water
  • investigate how dolphins communicate
  • research why sound travels faster through water than through the air
  • investigate why the temperature of the water effects the speed that the sound travels
  • give my opinion on why looking after the oceans are a priority

THIS WORK IS DUE FOR COMPLETION ON – Friday 27th March

You will be expected to research and add to your project every afternoon this week + any extra time you put in.

I look forward to seeing your final projects. Please send them to me on seesaw or glow.
