{"id":54,"date":"2022-07-05T10:38:09","date_gmt":"2022-07-05T09:38:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/re\/ferguslieelcc\/?page_id=54"},"modified":"2024-04-26T13:38:53","modified_gmt":"2024-04-26T12:38:53","slug":"parents","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/re\/ferguslieelcc\/parents\/","title":{"rendered":"Parents"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><span style=\"color: #339966\"><strong>Parental Engagement &amp; Involvement<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<p>In Ferguslie Early Learning and Childcare Centre we pride ourselves on being an \u201copen\u201d and \u201cwelcoming\u201d centre and we are committed to achieving and maintaining strong communication links with parents\/carers, recognising that it is parents who are the child\u2019s first educators of their children.\u00a0 The dedicated staff team are continually supporting the children to develop and enhance their skills and knowledge and we want to share all these achievements with you.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <span style=\"color: #339966\">What are the benefits of parents getting involved?<\/span><\/h5>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"520\">\n<ul>\n<li>Parents and carers know and understand their child best.<\/li>\n<li>It is easier for children to learn when they get encouragement at home<\/li>\n<li>Children do better and achieve more when their parents are involved<\/li>\n<li>Children are happy when their parents are enjoying events in the school<\/li>\n<li>Parents are better able to help and encourage their children<\/li>\n<li>Parents can build their own confidence and skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"color: #339966\"><strong>Learning at Home &#8211; <\/strong><strong><em>encourages families to learn together as a family<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your children\u2019s achievements are important, and we encourage you to share them with us.\u00a0 We encourage parents to make use of your child\u2019s online Learning Journal, adding any pictures from outings, home, parties etc. and comments regarding your child that you would like to share with us.<\/li>\n<li>Home Link Bags:\u00a0 We are passionate about fostering strong links between nursery and home. One way we do this is through our Home Learning Bags. The Bags have been put together to enable you to bring a little bit of nursery into your home.\u00a0 Each bag contains a different learning experience for you and your child to be involved in together.\u00a0 Please do not worry about misplacing any items as they are easily replaced.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966\"><strong>Parental Engagement &#8211; <\/strong><strong><em>parents\/families interacting with their child\u2019s learning<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Parents will termly receive an up to date progress report and twice yearly will be invited to a formal parent\u2019s night where keyworkers will spend time on an individual basis updating parents with review of progress information for their child.<\/li>\n<li>Learning to Play, Playing to Learn sessions are arranged annually (formally) however parents are welcome to spend time in the playrooms interacting with their child at any time.\u00a0 Just speak to your child\u2019s key worker for dates\/times.<\/li>\n<li>Book bug sessions are help twice a week. Going to a Bookbug Session is a great way for families to spend time bonding with each other and meeting other families in their local area. Bookbug Sessions can also help to build children\u2019s social skills and support their speech and language development. Most importantly, Bookbug Sessions are fun!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><a can get involved in the life and work of our centre<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Parents opinions and ideas matter to us and we value their contribution.
