{"id":119,"date":"2015-03-02T19:22:36","date_gmt":"2015-03-02T19:22:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/re\/barsailprimary\/?page_id=119"},"modified":"2015-03-02T19:22:36","modified_gmt":"2015-03-02T19:22:36","slug":"school-aims","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/re\/eastfultonprimary\/parent-zone\/school-aims\/","title":{"rendered":"School Aims"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Standards and expectations<\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>We will:<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>offer all children and young people a free school place;<\/li>\n<li>provide school premises which meet health and safety standards; provide information on your child\u2019s progress;<\/li>\n<li>provide religious and moral education for your child;<\/li>\n<li>give support and encouragement to parental involvement in schools; provide regular information on school activities; and<\/li>\n<li>provide 25 hours of class contact time in each normal school week for pupils of primary-school age.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Pupils will have opportunities for:<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>personal and social development;<\/li>\n<li>music, cultural activities and creativity;<\/li>\n<li>access to healthier lifestyles and sports activities; and community involvement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>You can also expect:<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a formal written report on your child\u2019s progress;<\/li>\n<li>an annual report on progress within the school improvement plan;<\/li>\n<li>an opportunity to have a formal meeting with your child\u2019s class teacher or teachers;<\/li>\n<li>us to strive to meet your child\u2018s needs; and regular reports on the quality of the school.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>How can you help?<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By law, you must make sure your child receives education.<\/p>\n<p>As a parent, you can help your child by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>making sure your child goes to school regularly;<\/li>\n<li>encouraging and supporting your child with any homework given; showing that you are interested in how your child is getting on at school;<\/li>\n<li>encouraging your child to respect the school and the whole school community; and<\/li>\n<li>being involved in the school.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The term \u2018parent\u2019 has the meaning attributed in the Standards in Scotland&#8217;s Schools Act 2000 and the Scottish Schools (Parental Involvement) Act 2006.
