What is Dolly Parton\u2019s Imagination Library?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dolly Parton\u2019s Imagination Library is a\u00a0book gifting\u00a0programme,\u00a0created by the singer Dolly Parton,\u00a0to encourage early reading and literacy\u00a0for babies to age 5. Within Renfrewshire council, the programme is currently offered to all children aged 2 \u2013 5. Each month a book\u00a0from DPIL\u00a0is sent via post to\u00a0your home address with your child\u2019s name on the letter. Each book sent is age and stage\u00a0appropriate to\u00a0your child.\u00a0When you first register your child, you will\u00a0recieve\u00a0a welcome book and then one book every\u00a0month\u00a0thereafter, on your child\u2019s 5<\/span>th<\/span>\u00a0birthday they will receive a graduation book to end their amazing collection of DPIL books.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

How we use it at Dargavel ELCC?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At Dargavel ELCC, we receive the same books as your child will at home. When the books first come through the\u00a0post,\u00a0we invite the children to open the parcel with us, this\u00a0encourage\u00a0a lot of familiarity from home and discussion about what the book is about and where it came from.\u00a0Every so often we have a visit from Dolly Parton. When she comes, we make an extra special effort to highlight just how important reading books with our children\u00a0is. An example of this was a Stay and Play we hosted in March 2026 and Dolly came along for the week, she brough cowboy hats and\u00a0BookBug\u00a0teamed up with her to include one of her books in the session.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At the end of every month, we post on our J2Easy platform digital learning packs for the books you have received. This is to give you some ideas for further learning at home and mimic what we are doing within the nursery using these books. The staff love to see what you have been up to so please\u00a0don’t\u00a0hesitate\u00a0to send in any photos of you completing some of the experiences.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We are aware that due to the newness of some Dargavel homes you may have trouble with the checker recognising your postcode, if this is an issue you can speak to\u00a0any\u00a0member\u00a0of staff\u00a0who will point you in the right direction for help.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
