As part of Global Citizenship week, Primary 6 has had a special, imaginary, guest pupil called Ruth. Ruth and her family are Jewish and live in London. In class we have been learning all about the Jewish religion and its history through personal research. When researching, we were amazed to find out that Israel has kosher McDonalds!
We had to follow a set of instructions to make our own dreidel. We learned that a dreidel is a Jewish toy.
Following our Ultimate Dodgeball tournament during Health Week, we are delighted to announce that we raised an amazing £472.36 for the British Heart Foundation. Many thanks to all of you who brought in the sponsorship money. Not only did the children all have great fun playing Ultimate Dodgeball but we raised a tremendous amount for a great cause. Thank-you.
Internet Safety is a very topical and often quite a daunting issue, particularly with children who have access to their own phone or tablet device. We have organised an event for parents of P6 and P7 pupils, where they will learn about parental controls, suitable apps and other issues relating to appropriate use of the internet and smart phones. The event will be led by the NSPCC and we have opened it up to all Johnstone schools. It will be held in the Gym Hall of the joint campus of Cochrane Castle and St David’s. The date is Tuesday 14 March, 1.30pm – 2.30pm. We hope you can join us for this important workshop.
