{"id":756,"date":"2016-02-16T12:11:16","date_gmt":"2016-02-16T12:11:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/re\/bushes\/?page_id=756"},"modified":"2023-01-07T13:48:35","modified_gmt":"2023-01-07T13:48:35","slug":"daily-routine","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/re\/bushes\/daily-routine\/","title":{"rendered":"Curriculum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Purpose of the Curriculum<\/strong><br \/>\nThe purpose of\u00a0the curriculum\u00a0is encapsulated in the four capacities &#8211; to enable each child or young person to be a successful learner, a confident individual, a responsible citizen and an effective contributor.<\/p>\n<p>The curriculum\u00a0aims to ensure that all children and young people\u00a0in Scotland develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they will need if they are to flourish in life, learning and work, now and in the future.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Principles<\/strong><br \/>\nThe curriculum should be designed on the basis of the following principles:<\/p>\n<p>Challenge and enjoyment<br \/>\nBreadth<br \/>\nProgression<br \/>\nDepth<br \/>\nPersonalisation and choice<br \/>\nCoherence<br \/>\nRelevance<\/p>\n<p><strong>Experiences and Outcomes<\/strong><br \/>\nThe title \u2018experiences and outcomes\u2019 recognises the importance of the quality and nature of the learning experience in developing attributes and capabilities and in achieving active engagement, motivation and depth of learning.<\/p>\n<p>An outcome represents what is to be achieved. The experiences and outcomes are set out in lines of development which describe progress in learning.<\/p>\n<p>They are organised into the eight curriculum areas:<\/p>\n<p>Expressive arts<br \/>\nHealth and wellbeing<br \/>\nLanguages<br \/>\nMathematics<br \/>\nReligious and moral education<br \/>\nSciences<br \/>\nSocial studies<br \/>\nTechnologies<\/p>\n<p><strong>More Information<\/strong><br \/>\nShould you wish more information about the curriculum then please come and ask us or request it through the tear off slips on our newsletters.
