These skills are\u00a0essential for learning, work and life and the experience of learning another language.\u00a0 Language is at the core of thinking and a love of reading can be an important starting point for lifelong learning.
\nCompetence in language is important to a child\u2019s self respect. Scotland has a rich diversity of languages and dialects and we value and build upon the language that a child brings to school.<\/p>\n
The main reading schemes that the school uses are Story World and Literacy World, although there are several other supplementary resources available. There is a structured approach to teaching all aspects of reading and writing including spelling, punctuation and grammar.<\/p>\n
Children learn German from P5 to P7 and continue with this language in to secondary school. We are in the process of introducing Spanish as a second modern language to our children from P1 to P7.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
