Bushes’ House Point System
At Bushes Primary we believe that pupils thrive when they receive praise for their effort and success across all curricular areas, along with being recognised for their positive contribution to the life of the school. The aim of our House Point system is to work together to create a positive, happy learning community that enables our children to ‘Blossom as Bushes’
Children are placed in a House when they join our school, with families being placed in the same House. Our four Houses are named after beautiful Scottish Islands, which are also local street names and were chosen by our pupils.
Our House Captains and Vice House Captains are chosen following the completion of an application form and taking part in an interview.
Pupils take their roles very seriously and are great ambassadors for their Houses.
Each House has their own motto:.
Islay: ‘Make Every Day Count’
Jura: ‘Follow Your Dreams’
Mull: ‘Never Give Up’
Iona: ‘Believe to Achieve’
Children can earn House Points by giving their best effort to achieve their learning targets, producing good quality work, being polite and courteous, helping each other and by setting a good example to uphold our school values. At the end of each term the House with the most points will receive a special treat.
Throughout the year we plan ‘House Activities’ where children can come together with other children from their House to take part in competitions and events to win extra House Points.
