Be Bright, Be Seen – Reflectors for Sale

zip-clip-be-seen

The Walk to School reps took to the catwalk and put on an impressive fashion show at assembly on Monday.  They modelled outfits showing how  children can be more easily seen by drivers on dark winter mornings if they wear light coloured hats, scarves or gloves, reflective strips on jackets or fluorescent armbands  – we even had some with built in flashing lights! All of these help to keep children safe when walking to or from school.  Zip reflectors which can be attached to jackets or school bags are now on sale during the morning interval.  Well worth 50p!

Park and Stride

Excellent! Our Walk to School reps carried out a survey today and found that 53 people parked a little bit away from the school then walked the rest of the way.  In September the number was 46 so we’re delighted to see this increase.  I wonder what it will be in November??

Walking Once A Week

The lovely October weather we’ve been enjoying has been ideal for walking, cycling or scootering to (and from!) school and our Walk to School committee hope as many people as possible are having a go at leaving the car at home and walking to school instead. Even doing this once a week should help traffic congestion and make the journey to school more pleasant  and safer for everyone.  You can also Park and Stride by leaving the car a little further away and walking the last part – we know it takes a bit of extra time and means setting the alarm a little earlier but go on, it’s worth it!  Don’t forget a special badge will be awarded to every pupil who manages to walk at least once a week for a month.  For more information, why not have a look at the Walk to School committee’s display board when you visit us for Parents Evenings this week?
