You must rehearse your poem and be prepare\u00a0 to recite to our class and one other class by <strong>Monday 23rd January<\/strong>. You must let me know your chosen poem by Friday 13th. Please use the weblinks below to help you find a suitable poem. The poem should be challenging but manageable.\u00a0<strong>As you are P7, you are expected to choose a poem with a\u00a0minimum of 4 verses (16 lines).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/poemhunter.com\/robert-burns\/poems\/\"><u>Poem Hunter &#8211; Robert Burns<\/u><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scottishpoetrylibrary.org.uk\/poetry\/poets\/robert-burns\"><u>Scottish Poetry Library<\/u><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/arts\/robertburns\/works\/types\/poem\/\"><u>BBC &#8211; Burns Poems<\/u><\/a>\u00a0(has some audio links to allow you to hear the correct pronunciation)<\/p>\n<p>As usual there will be one winner chosen from each class after reciting your poem to our own class then another class within the school.<\/p>\n<p>The following are the points you will be judged on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Good, clear diction.<\/li>\n<li>Pace<\/li>\n<li>A good understanding of the poem.<\/li>\n<li>Correct pronunciation of Scottish words.<\/li>\n<li>Good facial and vocal expression conveying the sentiment of the poem.<\/li>\n<li>Variation in pace and tone.<\/li>\n<li>A moderate amount of appropriate gesture if it comes naturally and if it enhances the poem.<\/li>\n<li>Over-dramatisation should be avoided as this distracts the audience and detracts from the flow of words.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>You\u00a0must recite your poem in verse,\u00a0<em>not\u00a0<\/em>singing.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We\u00a0are also looking for anyone\u00a0who can\u00a0play Scottish music, sing a Scottish song or can perform a Scottish dance.
