Good afternoon,<\/p>\n

On Wednesday 23rd February, we celebrated European Day of Languages. Each stage enjoyed learning all things French with a focus on French culture.<\/p>\n

P1P and P1S were learning all about the history of Versailles and there was a lot of great discussion going on. They watched a video and loved finding out about the palace. P1 were also playing circle games to learn their French numbers.<\/p>\n

P2K had lots of fun learning all about French colours.<\/p>\n

\"\" \"\"<\/p>\n

P3AM enjoyed learning about the French artist Henri Rousseau and enjoyed creating collage pictures inspired by him.<\/p>\n

\"\" \"\" \"\" \"\" \"\" \"\" \"\"<\/p>\n

P4M were learning about going to Primary School in France. Children start pre-school at the age of 3 and attend primary school at the age of 6. We found out French children don’t wear a school uniform. They have a longer day – usually 8.30am to 4.30pm. They either go home for lunch or have a school lunch, but don’t have the option of taking a packed lunch to school. Also, the children only attend school for half a day every Wednesday. They have longer holidays, and the new school session begins in September.<\/p>\n

P4R learned all about French landmarks and created some amazing models and pictures.<\/p>\n

\"\" \"\" \"\" \"\"\"\" \"\" \"\" \"\"<\/p>\n

P5A were learning about Louis Pasteur and found his contribution to vaccines particularly interesting given COVID-19. They recalled facts about him and used their knowledge of French colours to identify and draw fungi, bacteria and all things microbiology.<\/p>\n

\"\"\"\" \"\" \"\" \"\" \"\"<\/p>\n

P6S looked at April fools day traditions around Europe and made some fish for Poisson D\u2019Avril.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Finally, P7C and P7CK learned all about Bastille Day. We learned about why this day is so important and celebrated in France each year on July 14th. Then, we looked at Graffiti art. We watched a short video to see how popular graffiti art is, particularly in Paris. Inspired by this, we then created our own graffiti art based on some French words and our names.<\/p>\n
