It is for people who\u202fdo not have symptoms of COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>Bishopton\u00a0has had fluctuating\u00a0rates of COVID-19 in recent weeks and the testing site\u202fis intended to help change that.<\/p>\n<p>We encourage\u202fanyone who lives,\u00a0works\u00a0or goes to school in\u00a0Bishopton\u00a0to get a test &#8211; it will help protect you and the people around you by slowing the spread of the virus.<\/p>\n<p>The testing centre in\u00a0Bishopton\u00a0Community Centre will be open:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wednesday 25 August, 9am-5pm<\/li>\n<li>Thursday 26 August, 11am-7pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Friday 27 August, 9am-5pm<\/li>\n<li>Saturday 28 August, 11.am-3.30pm<\/li>\n<li>Sunday 29 August, 11am-3.30pm<\/li>\n<li>Monday 30 August, 9am-5pm<\/li>\n<li>Tuesday 31 August, 9am-5pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The testing site\u202fis\u00a0a\u00a0drop-in facility &#8211; you do not need to\u202fbook\u202fa test in advance.\u202fThe testing site\u202fis being run by Renfrewshire Council\u202fas part of the national rollout of community testing.<\/p>\n<h3>Who can get\u202ftested<\/h3>\n<p>The\u202ftesting site\u202fis\u202fbeing targeted at\u202fanyone\u202fwho lives, works, or\u202fgoes to school\u202fin\u00a0Bishopton\u202fand who\u202fis\u202fasymptomatic (does\u202fnot have symptoms of COVID-19).<\/p>\n<p>Anyone aged five and over can be tested but anyone under 12 needs parental permission and\u202fmust\u202fbe accompanied by\u202fan\u202fadult.<\/p>\n<h3>If you have COVID-19 symptoms<\/h3>\n<p>Please\u202fdo not\u202fcome to\u202fthe\u00a0Bishopton\u00a0testing site\u202fif you have COVID-19 symptoms (a new continuous cough, high temperature, change to sense of taste\/smell).<\/p>\n<p>You should instead\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhsinform.scot\/illnesses-and-conditions\/infections-and-poisoning\/coronavirus-covid-19\/test-and-protect\/coronavirus-covid-19-get-a-test-if-you-have-symptoms\">book a test<\/a>\u00a0at one of the other testing centres for people with symptoms\u00a0via the UK Government website.<\/p>\n<p>The nearest\u202fsites\u202fare the large drive-through site at Glasgow Airport and the local walk-through site at Bridge Street in Paisley.<\/p>\n<h3>If you have already been vaccinated<\/h3>\n<p>The national COVID-19 vaccination programme is under way. You can still catch and spread the virus even if you have received one or both doses of your COVID-19 vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>So\u202fwe encourage everyone who lives, works or goes to school in\u00a0Bishopton\u202fto get a test &#8211; whether you have been vaccinated or not.<\/p>\n<h3>Why you should get tested<\/h3>\n<p>Getting tested will help protect you, your loved\u00a0ones\u00a0and your community from COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>Bishopton\u00a0has had higher-than-average\u202frates of the virus in recent\u202fweeks\u202fand we want to bring those rates down, which is why the\u202ftesting site\u202fis being set up\u202fin\u202fthe area.<\/p>\n<p>People don&#8217;t always show symptoms when they have the virus &#8211; you could be passing it on to those around you without knowing. Getting tested is your chance to find out if you have\u202fit\u202fand\u202fhelp stop the spread.<\/p>\n<h3>What to expect at the testing\u202fsite<\/h3>\n<p>Parking\u00a0will be\u00a0available in the\u00a0Bishopton\u00a0Community\u00a0Centre car park. The\u00a0testing\u00a0site is also within walking distance of Bishopton train station and bus stops on Greenock Road and Craighead Road.<\/p>\n<p>Strict hygiene measures and physical distancing will be in place. You should wear a face\u00a0covering, unless\u00a0you are medically exempt.<\/p>\n<p>You will be asked to register your details\u202f- including name,\u00a0address\u00a0and mobile phone number.\u202fIf you don&#8217;t\u202fhave\u202fa\u202fmobile\u202fphone, we will help you to register.<\/p>\n<p>The test you will be given is known as a\u202flateral flow test.\u202fYou will take the test yourself, by putting a swab in your throat and up your nose. Staff will be\u202fon hand to\u202foffer instructions.<\/p>\n<p>After your test, please return to your home or car and stay there until you receive your test results.\u202fYour\u202ftest\u202fwill be processed on site and\u202fresults\u202fwill be texted to you within 45\u202fminutes\u202fof your test\u202fon the\u202fphone\u202fyou registered with.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who doesn&#8217;t\u202fhave a mobile phone\u202fwill\u202fbe\u202fdirected to an area where\u202fthey\u202fcan\u202fwait\u202fto receive\u202ftheir results\u202fin person.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who tests positive will be required to take a follow-up test to confirm this.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>COVID-19 testing site\u202fin\u00a0Bishopton A\u202ftemporary\u202fCOVID-19 testing site\u202fis being set up in\u00a0Bishopton.
