The Big Pedal

Good Morning,

Can we just say how impressed we are with the number of scooters and bikes taking part in this year’s Big Pedal. The children are so enthusiastic and loving the experience.

We would also like to remind you that children should not come through the school car park at anytime. As you know we are ever expanding and our car park is always busy, not only with staff but with deliveries and maintenance vehicles.  We are very aware of safety and hope that you will support us in keeping all safe. During Big Pedal, entry to and exit from school will take a bit longer and we appreciate your patience.

Road Safety at this time is a big focus and the teachers are reinforcing this in class.  Please speak to your child and support us to keep your child safe.

Thank you once again for your continued support.

Relationships, Sexual and Parenthood Health Education

An important part of our Health Education and Personal and Social Development programmes is Sexual Health and Relationships Education.

National Guidelines on Sexual Health Education recommend that within the Primary sector, such lessons should be taught within a context, exploring physical, emotional and social themes.

Again this year, we plan to deliver lessons within this structure using a resource published by Positive Steps. This resource takes a holistic approach, with the lessons taking pupils through topics such as friendships and relationships, puberty and menstruation, decision making and self esteem and, for Primary 7 pupils, human reproduction.

An effective school and parent partnership will enhance and enrich any Sexual Health programme that is undertaken.  I would therefore like to invite you to an information evening to be held through Google Meet on Tuesday 23rd March, commencing at 6.30pm. You will receive a text with the meeting I.D. I will outline the programme and the activities which will be incorporated into the lessons. We hope to conclude the presentation by 7.30pm.  For parents of the P3-7 pupils this is a repeat of previous years’ input, which you may have already received.

Many thanks,

Mrs Davidson

P7 Leavers’ Hoodies

Good Morning,

The senior management team (SMT) have had further discussions about the wearing of the P7 leavers’ sweatshirts.  We do agree that this has been a difficult time for all and recognise that, yet again this year, our P7s have missed out on several opportunities due to the pandemic. We are hoping to try to make up for some of this in the last term, if restrictions allow, but have agreed as an SMT that for this session only we will allow the children to wear their hoodies to school after the Easter holidays.

Looking forward to seeing all back in school next week.

P7 Leavers’ Hoodies

Good Morning,

We would like to ask that Leavers’ Hoodies are only worn as outer wear.  They should not be worn in class. We are trying hard to keep the upper part of the school uniform as near to normal as possible, even with the relaxed uniform policy of the moment.

We know the children are very excited about their return to school and the transition to high school but would very much appreciate your support to keep as near to normal uniform as possible.

Looking forward to seeing everyone back in school next week.

World Book Day 2021

Good Morning.  Tomorrow, 4 March, is World Book Day.  Classes across the school will be doing fun activities throughout the day to mark the event.

As always, the school have been issued with Book Vouchers for the pupils.  P1-3 and the Hub children will be given theirs in school. Any of these children who have siblings working at home will be given theirs too.  We would like to invite any P4-7 pupils who do not have siblings in school to collect their voucher from Mrs McKechnie in our Main Office.

Happy reading.

Christmas Jumper Day

Thank you very much for your continued support with our Charitable Donations.  So far we have raised almost £550 for Save the Children.  There is still time to donate through Parent Pay if you wish.

I am also delighted to announce that we raised over £800 for Children in Need.  In today’s climate this is a phenomenal sum. Well done and thank you once again.

Christmas Hampers

A great big thank you to our Bishopton Family.  We collected so many donations for our hampers that we were able to make up 38 very full packages.  As always our families are very generous.  We must also thank out local Co-op for donating the bags which made Mrs Fraser and Mrs Jack’s job of packing so much easier.  We are very grateful to both of them for doing such a super job.

Rev Smith of Bishopton Parish Church put us in touch with Erskine, Bishopton and Inchinnan Unite Volunteers who were delighted to uplift the hampers and distribute them to families in Bishopton.  Our House Captains made us very proud when we handed over the packages.  4 of the Captains then delivered a hamper personally to a local resident close to the school.

We are very happy to be able to support our local community and once again thank you all for your generosity.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Christmas Jumper Day – Friday 11 December 2020

This year has not been so good for lots of children and grown-ups.  When it comes to having fun we have some catching up to do.  In this spirit we will be having our usual Christmas Jumper Day to support Save the Children.  We would like everyone to put on a Christmas Jumper. It could be an old jumper or top covered with stickers, tinsel, foil or anything sparkly.  You don’t have to go to the shops!  Our Pupil Council have already made posters and displayed them in their classroom.

As before, we are suggesting a donation of £1 which you can make through Parent Pay.  This will be open until 18 December.

Thanking you in advance and looking forward to a fun day.

Children in Need

A massive thank you to all who have supported us today.  The children looked fabulous in their yellow and had a great time in the playground at breaks dancing to Miss McDowall’s playlist!  Most importantly we have raised over £600 so far! This is wonderful and remember that Parent Pay is open for donations until next Wednesday.

Thanking you all once again.

Children in Need

Just a wee reminder to wear something yellow tomorrow.  Our Parent Pay account is building up nicely for this very worthwhile cause… keep it going everyone. As always Bishopton Primary families are very generous.  We will keep the page open until next Wednesday.

Thanking you all once again for your support.

Children in Need

Once again this year Bishopton Primary will support Children in Need.  This Friday 13 November, we would like the children who wish to participate to wear yellow for the day and wear their Pudsey ears or hairbands, if they wish. We are suggesting a donation of £1 to be paid through Parent Pay.

Please log in to your Parent Pay to donate, this will be open from this Wednesday 11 November until 18 November.   We look forward to seeing a sea of yellow and having a fun day.

Thanking you in advance for your continued support.

Rainy Days

Good afternoon. As you know we have had our first rainy day. Unfortunately most of our classes were unable to go outside for learning or for play today as not everyone was prepared with suitable wet weather wear.  Can we stress again that guidelines state that the safest place for everyone in the current situation is outside. As we all know, even if the day starts sunny, the Scottish weather can be relied upon to change very quickly.  Please ensure that your child has relevant outer wear and footwear for being outside in the rain.

Many thanks for your continued support.

Friday 26 June 2020

Good Morning.

We made it!  Last day of term.  Can I just once again thank everyone for their hard work and determination to get through these difficult times.  Pupils, parents and staff have worked so hard to keep the learning going and maintain a sense of normality.  We are a great Team…

Remember to make some noise at 1 o’clock and watch the Blog for updates and videos.  Have a wonderful summer and see you all in August.

Tuesday 23 June 2020

Good morning.

What a busy day we had yesterday.  Our last P7 group were in school and all are off to visit Park Mains over the next couple of days. We wish them luck at this exciting time.  Our new P1s have been visiting us and keeping Mrs McLaren and the infant department very busy. It is so nice to see their excitement and welcome them to our school. Everyone will now have their class for next session. This is a special time for everyone, full of anticipation and enthusiasm. We are all looking forward to being back in school.

Enjoy this week’s activities and have a good day.

Have a lovely day.

Friday 19 June 2020

Good morning.

Friday again.  The weeks are disappearing.  We had our first group of P7s back yesterday and it was so nice to see them. We also said hello to our first set of new P1s.  Wecome to Bishopton Primary. Different circumstances with Social Distancing but we managed fine.

The count down to the end of term is now well and truly on so remember to do what you can today.  Have a lovely weekend.

Thursday 18 June 2020

Good morning everyone.

Yesterday turned out to be nicer than expected so I hope you took advantage.  Remember not to stress over the tasks set by your teacher. We know all your circumstances are different and people will be able to access and complete the tasks at different rates and time. Do what you can, we are almost there! I believe Joe Wickes has cut back his times this week but there are lots of other sites available so get active and enjoy searching for inspiration.

Have a good day.
