P1 Pancake Fun

Today we made pancakes – they were yummy! 🥞🥞🥞

We learned about Shrove Tuesday  and found out why some people eat pancakes. We also learned that some people give up something for 47 days until Easter!

Primary 1 Care Home Trip

The Primary 1s had a great afternoon delivering Christmas cards and signing songs at the Little Inch Care Home in Inchinnan. They really did put a smile on everyone’s faces 😊 thank you to all our parent helpers who were a great help during our walk.

Primary 1 Sumdog

When using Sumdog at home, please do not help your child with the questions. If you do then the questions will start to get harder and harder and then it will not set the children at the appropriate level for their learning. Thanks 🙂

Sumdog Competition

As part of Maths Week Scotland, the children are involved in a Sumdog competition. There has been time given in class for this, however, the children can also work on this at home. Although the competition is for the whole of Scotland, we are aiming to win within our cluster. P3/2 are doing fantastic already within this competition! Come on Barsail, we can do this!

P1 Marvellous Maths

Wow what a day it has been! We had had so much fun completing lots of different maths activities and challenges. Our favourite part was getting our new sumdog logins 🙂 it was made so much easier wearing our maths genius hats that we made.  We can’t wait for lots more tomorro

Maths Week Scotland

Next week is the beginning of Maths Week Scotland. We have organised lots of activities in school to help promote Numeracy and Mathematics and show children that Maths is fun and everyone can  ‘do’ Maths.

The children have been entered into the Sumdog National competition which runs from 8am Friday 8th September to 8pm Thursday 14th September. Your child should have been given their username and password (Primary 1s you will get yours on Monday). The children will be able to access the games in school but can also access at home. The children are competing against the whole country however our focus is to win within the cluster (surrounding schools).

The children will also take part in a Maths Art competition. They will complete their piece of artwork in class and then be entered into a competition within the cluster where there will be a P1-3, P4-5 and P6-7 winner. Winners will be announced Friday 15th September.

Our homework focus will be Maths all week although some classes may give out reading also (P1 will have handwriting).

All teachers and staff have arranged lots of fun activities within their classes – let’s rise to the challenge and think positively about Maths!

Primary 1 Photo

If you want to buy a newspaper with the Primary 1 photo in it, your order must be in for tomorrow (Wedensday 6th September). Please remember to return both order form and money. Thank you 🙂

Wednesday!!

Children can wear own clothes on Wednesday. They can also bring in a toy but please making sure it is not electric. School closes at 1pm   🙂

Primary 1 Maths Homework

When children are practising their number bonds this week, why not use a fidget spinner as the timer (when it stops spinning this is when time is up). This is only an idea if your child already has one of these 🙂

Primary 1a basketball!!

The children are having great fun every Monday having their basketball coach in!! They are even playing real games and some children are showing off their competitive side 🙂

Babakoochi :)

The children loved having Tony Fitzpatrick in today speaking to them about his new books!! Please visit the website www.babakoochibear.com as the children can learn more about the books/characters here. Also bring in the tear off slip from the form sent out recently if you would like to purchase the books…the children were very interested in them today and loved the main character Babakoochi 🙂

Farm Trip :)

Well … what an amazing trip the children and all the adults had at Lowbell Trees Farm. It was such an amazing trip and so hands on. John and Jessie were fantastic and really welcomed the children to the farm 🙂  We are unable to put pictures on the blog at the moment however they will be uploaded as soon as so look out :)!!!

Farm Trip!!!

As I know you will be well aware the children have their Farm trip next Tuesday (25th)   🙂   they are so excited!  Please ensure they wear warm clothing and appropriate clothing for the weather. Also please send their school shoes in a plastic bag as we will be taking them with us on the trip for them to change into before getting on the bus. I am sure the children will have a great time on their trip and  will have lots to tell you when they come home 🙂
