different times, places and circumstances. They also develop their understanding of the environment and how it has been shaped. Through this learning, children develop a greater understanding of their place in the world and their role as responsible citizens.<\/p>\n<p>Learning in social studies is structured by three organisers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>People, past events and societies<\/li>\n<li>People, place and environment<\/li>\n<li>People in society, economy and business<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>More information on the Curriculum for Excellence approach to Social Studies can be found here:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/education.gov.scot\/Documents\/social-studies-pp.pdf\">Social Studies: Principles and Practice<\/a><\/p>\n<p>At Bargarran, social studies is taught through interdisciplinary topics, which give pupils the opportunity to explore social studies themes within a broader learning context, while making links to other areas of the curriculum. We aim to ensure that pupils play an active role in planning their learning.
