<\/a><\/p>\nWelcome to P4<\/strong><\/p>\n This term our teachers are Mr Turner (Monday-Thursday) and Mrs Law (Friday)<\/p>\n P.E. days are Mondays and Tuesdays<\/p>\n On P.E.. days please remember to come to school with appropriate P.E kit to change into and all jewellery removed.<\/p>\n Homework<\/p>\n Homework will be issued weekly. Homework will be issued at the start of the week and should be completed by the end of the week. Homework diaries have log in details for various programmes to support learning.<\/p>\n It is at your discretion if you wish to complete homework and submissions will no longer be recorded. Any time spent on learning at home is greatly appreciated!<\/p>\n Reminder<\/p>\n Please ensure that all items that your child brings to school are clearly marked with their name. This is very helpful if items get misplaced!<\/p>\n Here are some of the exciting things we will be learning in term three\u2026<\/p>\n Literacy<\/p>\n In Literacy, we will continue to develop our skills in reading, writing, talking and listening.<\/p>\n Our class novel this term is The Creakers<\/em> by Tom Fletcher. We will use the novel to develop our reading comprehension, prediction, sequencing and character analysis skills, as well as inspiring a range of writing activities.<\/p>\n In Writing, we will explore different genres and learn how to plan, organise and improve our writing. We will focus on using interesting vocabulary, sentence structure and appropriate punctuation.<\/p>\n We will also continue with weekly spelling and phonics patterns, common words and guided reading activities. Pupils will be encouraged to read regularly through Accelerated Reader.<\/p>\n All grammar will be taught via Talk for Writing.<\/p>\n Numeracy<\/p>\n During Term One, our learning will include:<\/p>\n Place value \u2013 reading, writing, ordering and understanding the value of digits in numbers.<\/span><\/p>\n Estimating and rounding \u2013 developing strategies for estimating and rounding numbers.<\/p>\n Addition and subtraction \u2013 exploring different mental and written strategies and choosing efficient methods.<\/span><\/p>\n Problem solving \u2013 applying our numeracy skills in different contexts and explaining our mathematical thinking.<\/span><\/p>\n Learning will be differentiated to provide appropriate support and challenge for all learners.<\/p>\n We will re-enforce these concepts through Numbots and TTRS (Times Table Rockstars)<\/p>\n Health and Wellbeing<\/p>\n We will continue with our PATHS approach to teach social and emotional learning. We will be focusing on Substance misuse and will start our RSHP. Please refer to the Dojo page for specific timelines of each of these lessons.<\/p>\n We will also explore growth mindset and mindfulness, encouraging children to recognise that mistakes are an important part of learning and to develop strategies for managing their emotions and wellbeing.<\/p>\n Through PE, pupils will continue to develop their movement, teamwork and physical skills through a variety of games and activities.<\/p>\n BGE<\/p>\n In Technologies, pupils will develop their digital skills and explore how technology can be used creatively and safely. We will also develop our understanding of cyber resilience and internet safety.<\/p>\n In Science, we will explore energy, investigating different forms and sources of energy through practical and engaging activities.<\/p>\n Through Expressive Arts, pupils will develop their creativity through Art, Drama and other activities linked to our class novel.<\/p>\n Class Dojo<\/u><\/p>\n Please join our class dojo to keep up to date with class news, photos and more!
