Renfrewshire Education Committee strongly encourages the wearing of an agreed school uniform because of the many benefits which flow to the school and families. Each school\u2019s clothing policy should be approved by a majority of pupils, parents and staff.<\/p>\n

There are forms of dress which are unacceptable in school, such as items of clothing which: potentially, encourage faction (such as football colours) could cause offence ( such as anti-religious symbolism or political slogans) could cause health and safety difficulties, such as loose fitting clothing, dangling earrings, track suits of inflammable material in practical classes; could cause damage to flooring; carry advertising, particularly for alcohol or tobacco; could be used to inflict damage on other pupils or be used by others to do so; and are valuable or expensive items of clothing or jewellery which presents a security issue for the school. Under no circumstances will pupils be deprived of any educational benefit as a result of not wearing uniform and, in particular, pupils will not be denied access to examinations as a result of not wearing uniform.<\/p>\n

Parents of children receiving Family Income Support, Family Credit, Housing Benefit or Council Tax Rebate will normally be entitled to monetary grants or vouchers for footwear and clothing for their children. Approval of any requests for such grants made by parents in different circumstances are at the discretion of the Director of Education. Information and application forms may be obtained from schools and from Area and Education Offices.<\/p>\n

Parents are asked to assist schools and the authority by ensuring that valuable items and unnecessarily expensive items of clothing are not brought to school. Parents should note that the authority does not carry insurance to cover the loss of such items and any claims submitted are likely to be met only where the authority can be shown to have been negligent.<\/p>\n

School Uniform<\/strong><\/p>\n

The preferred school uniform for Bargarran Primary School is:<\/p>\n

Grey blazer and school badge<\/p>\n

Grey fleece, with or without badge<\/p>\n

Grey pinafore, skirt, trousers or shorts<\/p>\n

White shirt, blouse or polo-shirt<\/p>\n

Grey or Red v-necked pullover or cardigan<\/p>\n

School tie<\/p>\n

Grey or white socks<\/p>\n

To help keep the inside of classrooms and the gym floor clean, we ask that pupils either clean their outdoor shoes thoroughly or change their footwear when coming inside. All shoes should be kept inside the room – preferably in a shoe bag.\u00a0 We would ask that all pupils wear black school shoes. These may be trainer type but not ‘fashion’ trainers (eg Converse).\u00a0It would be helpful if school clothing could be marked with name tags e.g. coats, sweatshirts, shoe bags, trainers etc.<\/p>\n

School Uniform Hub<\/strong><\/p>\n

We have a school uniform hub available beside our office area. This contains second hand uniform in good condition that can be taken home by pupils, parents\/carers free of charge. The uniform hub is available to view or use during school hours by entering through the front office. Any donations of used school uniform in good condition to be added to our uniform hub would be gratefully received.<\/p>\n
