Parent Support – Building Bridges Back

Educational Psychology Support

As part of Renfrewshire’s approach to supporting families with the transition back to school the Educational Psychology and Home Link Services, will be implementing ‘Building Bridges Back’ parent groups across the authority.  ‘Building Bridges Back’ is an evidenced-based approach with the main aim being to support families where a child or young person is refusing to go back to school as a result of anxiety or stress. This is an extension of the RNRA approach used across the authority. These groups will provide support to families where anxiety and/or conflict is an issue, especially as a barrier to engagement to learning, with a focus on the transition back to school after Lockdown. The group method has also been informed by Non Violent Resistance Approaches as well as RNRA.
