Miss. Sinclair is our class teacher this year.
Our gym days are a Friday afternoon and a Monday afternoon, however due to the current guidance, all P.E has to take place outdoors, so these days may change. It would be helpful to ensure your child comes to school dressed for outdoor P.E each day, including bringing a waterproof jacket and a hoodie/jumper to keep warm.
This term, we will be focusing on: recognising the link between a digit, its place and its value, adding, subtracting and rounding. We will also be continuing with our Number Talks to improve our knowledge and understanding of numbers and the mental strategies we can use to solve equations.
It would be helpful for the children to continue to revise their times tables weekly at home. These can be found in their homework diary or they can use interactive games such as sumdog or timestables.co.uk to help with this.
We will be continuing with our weekly spelling activities where the children will learn a new spelling rule or pattern each week. We will completing a range of activities in school to improve our spelling. Children with access to nessy should continue to use this at home to help improve their spelling. All other children also have access to sumdog spelling. We will also be complete grammar and comprehension tasks weekly.
We will also be working on our imaginative and functional writing this block, using VCOP to uplevel our work and hook in our reader!
We will be continuing with accelerated reading and will be completing our homework reading in class at the moment whilst we still have the weather on our side.
While the weather is still reasonably good, we are introducing homework after the October break. Reading homework will be sent home on staggered days throughout the week to ensure the class teacher has an opportunity to discuss any new books with the children before being sent home. This day will vary depending on what book your child is reading, but they will have equal amounts of time to read each homework book.
Spelling activities are being completed in school at the moment. Literacy homework will be provided, however a letter with details of this will be provided when we return after the October break.
Maths homework has not yet been set and as above, will be issued after the October break.
Health and Wellbeing
Health and Wellbeing has been one of our major focuses since returning to school. We have been focusing on a recovery program to help the children feel more comfortable about returning to school. This has included things such as: emotions about returning to school, changes in school, coping with change etc.
We have been learning how to improve our Growth Mindset for the year ahead. We have learned about the power of YET and SMART goal setting – please ask your child about this and the goal they have set themselves. We will be continuing to work on our Growth Mindset throughout the term as we take on new challenges and push ourselves to be the best we can be!
