Base 7<\/strong><\/p>\n

Base 7 have had a busy year so far looking at a variety of the Rights that relate to specific topics, discussions, and areas of the curriculum.\u00a0 We created a class charter which was based around \u201cPerson first, player second\u201d.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

We looked at various articles that related to this statement and what it meant for us, as a class, to reference it throughout our year.\u00a0 In addition to this we looked at Global Goals and what us as Duty Bearers and Rights Holders could do to support and understand our future and the variety of opportunities we will be presented with, including how important decision making is on yourself and others. Each group of children chose a specific Global Goal to focus on and create a new resource to teach to other classes.\u00a0 This involved intense planning and through teamwork, PowerPoints were created independently that were clear and concise.\u00a0 These also included an activity for other children to complete.\u00a0 Primary 7 also took part in Outright lessons focusing on Climate Change.<\/p>\n

We had meaningful conversations and a quiz based around our findings.<\/p>\n

We also looked at Global Goal 5: Gender Inequality using reading circles as an opportunity to look at a variety of questions.<\/p>\n

Rights Holders were able to discuss with their peers what gender inequality may look like and the impact that inequality has had within our society.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Finally, we made strong links with our Connected Classroom in Uganda, raising money to help them build a new toilet for their school.\u00a0 We exchanged letters and pictures too.\u00a0 In addition to Uganda, children have created another link with a school in Taiwan.\u00a0 We have written letters and have been fortunate enough to have a team\u2019s call where we could meet and chat to the children too.<\/p>\n

Article 24: Right to good quality health care, clean water and good food.\u00a0 This article was chosen and discussed in detail and Global Goal 6: Clean water and sanitation was referred to when investigating how to Beat the Flood.\u00a0 These series of lessons involved children looking at various island locations which are faced with the issue of rising sea levels.\u00a0 Children had to plan, budget, resource and build their own flood proof house by developing an awareness of suitability living<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
