Parent Focus Group
The next meeting of the parent focus group is on Monday 4th March at 7pm. The meeting will be held in the school’s meeting room.
All parents of Johnstone High pupils are welcome to attend. Please let Mr Munro, DHT at the school, know if you are wishing to attend.
Our Town launch
Staff from Johnstone High attended the launch of the new ‘Our Town’ initiative. Our Town has been launched by the Hearld and Evening Times newspapers and will give local people a service that will keep them updated of evenys and news within the Johnstone area. Johnstone is the only town currently involved in the initiative and as a school we will create our own ‘channel’. Parents will be given details of how they can register and it will allow instant alerts to your smart phone, tablet or desktop of events within the school such as parents evenings, newsletter and other events.
We will be using the service within the next few weeks to look out for details of how to register – assuming you haven’t already!
S3 Parents Evening
The S3 Parents evening will be in the school on Tuesday 26 February 2013. Pupils have already been issued with appointment sheets.
STEM event – A great success
WIth 16 STEM ambassadors visiting our school yesterday, the STEM event was a major success. Enjoyed by all of our S2 pupils and many of of seniors, the ambassadors gave an insight into the varied ways in which scince makes an impact in everyday life. It also gave pupils valuable advice into the career paths that science could afford them.
Options Evening 18 Feb 2013 Parents of current S2 and S3 Pupils
A reminder that the options evening is on Monday 18th February starting at 7pm.
The programme is
7.00pm Welcome and overview of the Options procedure by Head Teacher W. Hayburn
7.15pm Parents split into groups in the Dining Hall.
Principal teachers/faculty heads rotate around and fashion parents with curricular info
the groups will receive new information from staff at 5 MIN intervals
Parents will be issued with a Course Choice booklet and
a Curriculum Map.
Revising for English exams
Miss Herd and Miss Pinkerton have placed loads of revision material on the school website to help with English exams.
S6 Burns Supper
This year’s Burns Supper will take place in the school hall on Wednesday 23rd January at 5pm. Tickets are £6 each.
Senior School Photographs
Pupils in S5 and S6 have been given their order forms for individual photographs. The forms must be returned before Thursday 25 January with payment enclosed.
Group photographs will NOW take place on Monday 28 January 2013.
HE/ FE Fair
After the success of last year’s event the school will again be organising a HE/FE Fair. It will be on 17 June 2013.
The event will see representatives for universitites, colleges and training establishments come to the school. Pupils who are currently in S4 and S5 will have the opportunity to meet and discuss options for post Johnstone HS. It is hoped to expand the event and have representatives from industry, the services and other professional bodies. As with last year there will be a representatives from SAAS the student finance body. Look out for more details in future parent newsletters.
