Under 15 Football vs St Luke’s

Under 15 Football Team

The under 15 team will be looking to get back to winning ways next time out after a first league defeat last week at St Luke’s to the tune of 5 – 1.

Following hot on the heels of a 10 – 0 home victory against Trinity this was not what the boys had planned.

St Luke’s scored early and it was the first time the boys had found themselves behind in any game this season.

Consequently, the heads dropped a little and the performance was nowhere near the impressive performances that have been in evidence throughout the rest of this campaign.

Greg Steven scored a consolation goal in a game where Johnstone were second best on the day.  So well done to St Luke’s for a thoroughly deserved victory.

Next up on Tuesday 10th of March is another tricky away tie to a very good Gryffe team.

Hopefully, the likes of Lewis Banaghan will bring the shooting boots that scored 6 impressive goals against Trinity in th eprevious game.

The team were below par but the man of the match award goes to the captain Kris Alexander who put in a great shift at the back and did all he could to motivate those around about him.

Bag2School Collection for World Challenge

Team Borneo have arranged a pick-up with Bag2School, scheduled for the 5th of December 2013.

If you have any old clothes, bedding, hats, shoes, belts, curtains or soft toys then please hand them into the school at the computing department.  Special bags are available for collection on request, but if you have any unwanted items then bring them in to the school in any old bin bag and the team will sort them out appropriately.

Pupils bringing in bags will earn points for their house in the annual house competition.

Thank you for any support in this matter.

Challenge Borneo

As one World Challenge experience ends, another one enters the embryonic stage.  The proposed expedition to Borneo in the summer of 2015 has been launched and 21 pupils from S4 and S5 have signed up for what promises to be a wonderful experience.

Exciting times lie ahead as the group begin the fundraising stage with the “Blitz the 5050” Challenge seeing all the team feverishly trying to generate support to contribute towards the shared group funds.  More challenges to follow.

Challenge Nepal

Team Nepal have completed the first World Challenge expedition from Johnstone High School. The whole experience proved to be a wonderful success for all involved.  The team made an excellent impact in Nepal, making many friends along the way and contributing in a very positive manner, such as the wonderful work that was done in Nagajuna boarding school.

Read all about their adventures in the newsletter attached at the bottom of this post.  Please feel free to leave a comment about the expedition.

After the tremendous success of this inaugural expedition, it is with great excitement that World Challenge 2 – Team Borneo is launched to pupils currently in S4 and S5, ready for departure come the summer of 2015.
